a breathtaking retreat in the middle of Amsterdam

We had stayed on a houseboat last year on the busy Amstel, and we were looking for a different experience when we chose the Meremaid on the Niewe Prinsengracht. Boy, did we get it. The boat is a naturalistic paradise, where birds of many species congregate and welcome you to the neighborhood on your little balcony. Meredith is a gracious host,and the boat comes with all the homey touches you rarely get anywhere else - the kitchen is great for cooking, the bed is comfortable, there's plenty of storage space, and the view onto the canal is mesmerizing, day and night. The only problem with the Meremaid is that you might not want to leave it to explore Amsterdam! Can't say enough good things - one of the favorite places my wife and I have ever stayed!
