The peninsular of Istria is a gem on the scale of Cornwall but with a Mediterranean climate. Set among vineyards and olive groves in the hills of central Istria the house has views across open country with the church spires of other villages dotting the romantic landscape. Sitting in the middle of its own grounds the newly restored south facing house has gardens with walnut, figs and vines surrounding the 12 metre pool with summer house and sunbathing terraces. Local restaurants serve Istrian truffles with steak or fusilli, farm dried hams, sheep’s cheese, wild boar with pasta, raw fish gazpacho as well as sea food caught daily and fantastic local wines. Spend the morning by the pool and drive to the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic for the afternoon. On the way home you can visit the nearby Venetian hill towns to explore new restaurants. Each house has its own private garden with terrace where meals can be taken and access to the pool which is for the sole use of the 2 houses

This is the option for exclusive use of the whole farmhouse which sits in the middle of its own grounds.The huge living /dining area has the Istrian fireplace, oak beams and stone walls.The house has exclusive use of the pool, summer house and sunbathing terraces. Bedrooms have solid wood floors and most have original stone walls exposed. The top floor is barn style with massive beams and original terracotta tiles in the pitch of the roof. All rooms have wonderful country views. At night the stars are brilliant and there is the silence of deep country where distant church bells carry on the night air. The 12m X 6m overflowing pool is surrounded by lawns and sun terraces with sun beds. The summer house has a mini kitchen and barbecue so that there is a place for Hollywood style eating . The heated pool has a child safety net which can be erected.

Notes: The house provides a self contained environment where a family can happily spend a day. There is open country behind the house and marvellous walking on the old cart tracks. The house is equipped for out of season visits with central heating and the pool is heated. April, May and October are wonderful for walking, bicycling and site seeing.

How to get there: There are several routes: For 2009 there is a Ryanair service direct to Pula which gives the shortest transfer of 40 minutes in Istria Ryanair from Stanstead to Trieste (2 hour transfer) A car can be hired from Peter Kesic on 0038641505361 or 00385912509351 land line 0028651711996, fax 0038656747139 email peter.kesic@gmail.com and mentuion that you are staying in Mocitada or Hertz in Trieste through the Ryanair website.Easyjet and Ryanair fly to Venice and there is a daily boat run by Kompas or Venezialine from Venice to Porec.This can be booked through any local travel agent. Every day it leaves at 5 o'clock local time from Venice and on the return leaves Porec at 8 o'clock in the morning. A great way to include a day in Venice in the holiday. Croatia Airlines and many charter companies also fly to Pula which is 40 minutes drive from the houses.

Beautiful restored country villa

It's at the end of the road in a small village, so the children can't get run over. It's got a pool (unheated, but it was warm enough for us in May), space to relax, what more could one ask? It's even got matching plates and cutlery which (like the pool) is more than we have at home.
The village is VERY quiet though the neighbours we met seemed delightful (speaking Croatian or Italian would help). A car is nearly essential (don't forget anything off the shopping list) though over the hill is a very good local restaurant run on semi organic "agro-turismo" lines.
Spring in Istria was wonderful, with verdant green and (only slightly overrated) wild asparagus.
The owners provided good local information which enhanced our enjoyment of the region. The nearest "Venetian" hill town is a bit of a dump behind its (UNESCO subsidised) restored facade, and the Jugoslav dictator Tito's private island was a travesty, but other visits were a great success (e.g. the amphitheatre, Pula) and local walks in the hills are fun and not too difficult for children, some of the paths being in such good condition you could take a pushchair, others not.
Highly recommended, even (especially?) in low season.

Wunderschönes Haus in "toskanischen "Hügeln. Abseits von Lärm und Touristenrummel. Gepflegter Garten, grosser Pool ideal für Ruhesuchende.Trotzdem nicht weit von interessanten Orten wie Motovun , Porec, Beram etc. entfernt
Von kleinen Abnützungserscheinungen im Bereich des Kücheninventars abgesehen kann an diesem Objekt nichts bemängelt werden.
Wir kommen gerne wieder
