Overlooking a lake teeming with bird life, this newly built luxury villa is situated within the prestigious River Strand gated golfing community at Heritage Harbour. The house is on a quiet cul de sac and sleeps up to 10 people. It has a large screened lanai with dining table and chairs and loungers and heated pool and spa. The large open plan central living area boasts an entrance hall, pool table and games area, dining table for 8, spacious lounge with wide screen TV, fully fitted open kitchen and breakfast table. The separate den has a desk and sofa bed to sleep 2. There is a laundry room with washer, dryer and sink. The master bedroom has an extra large double bed, en suite bathroom with walk in shower, two vanity basins, bath and enormous walk in closet. Bedroom 2 is fitted with a large double bed with en suite bathroom, bedroom 3 and 4 are twins with shared bathroom. The house is fully air conditioned. Full size table tennis table in 3 car garage.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Special rates can be negotiated for longer rentals. Price includes all local taxes, electricity, telephone calls with US and Canada, broadband internet access and cleaning after departure. Pool and spa electric heating is available at $100 per week. A deposit of £200/$400 per week is required to confirm booking. A property bond/security deposit will be required via the local management company.
  • For longer term rentals, we can arrange transfer of membership of the River Strand Golf Club (27 excellent holes) for 2 adults/2 children (under 21) for a one off fee of $250. Membership then entitles you to unlimited free golf except for a cart fee of $18 plus tax pp/round.

The House Surroundings: The house and the surrounding area offer a holiday that will appeal to active families, golfers or those just wishing to relax in the Florida sunshine in a beautiful area. The on site facilities include: River Strand and Stoneybrook Golf Courses; Baseball/Basketball/Soccer; Jogging and Cycle Tracks; Canoeing/Boating/Fishing Lake; Children's playground; Picnic Area. The gated community and quiet roads provide a safe environment for children and the many wetland areas around the golf courses and houses are teeming with water birds and other bird life.

The Local Area: As well as the numerous restaurants, shops and tourist attractions the local area has plenty of wildlife to see. At Myaka State Park boat rides and tram rides with local rangers offer the opportunity to see vultures, osprey, many wading birds and, of course, alligators! Anna Maria Island is a haven for pelicans which can be seen diving for fish close to the shore. The beautiful white sand beaches have many different shells and ancient sharks' teeth can also be found. There are also opportunities along the coast for boat trips to see Dolphins and the elusive Manatee, to enjoy snorkelling and to try your hand at diving.

Golf: The area is a golfer's paradise with over 50 courses to choose from within the Sarasota/Bradenton area. There are four courses within 5 minutes of the house, each of which is challenging and well worth playing and boast plenty of wildlife. Green fees vary by season/time of day, but are very reasonable. River Strand - 27 holes of great golf course with 3 distinct 9 hole courses some adjoining the Manatee River. Temporary membership is available for long term renters. Stoneybrook - A real test of golf off the back tees. Suitable for all standards and played through mature Preserve landscape, lakes and ponds. The Links at Greenfield Plantation - A good public course just down the road with open fairways but plenty of water/out of bounds. Waterlefe - A real challenge for any level of golfer offering 5 sets of tees. There are some unforgettable holes carved out alongside the Manatee River.

We are about to leave after two really great weeks in this lovely house. The managing agents were helpful on arrival but we haven't needed them since. Having rented properties in several countries we can be critical but the house more than matched our expectations. It was spotless on arrival - inside and out - and everything worked beautifully. We have found lots to do with active 13 yr old twins - golf, tennis, great gym and pool at the clubhouse; stunning beaches; fantastic shopping - it's all here and we certainly don't want to leave. We even found a batting cage to try soft ball and baseball - the top speed of 70 mph was pretty challenging. We would whole-heartedly recommend the house to anyone - one family or two - and hope to return soon.

Extended Family Vacation

Our extended family stayed at this home at the end of Feb. 2009. It was a beautiful home which was ideal for the 10 of us, including four kids ages five and under. The kids particularly enjoyed the ping pong table and pool/hot tub. The wifi didn't seem to work well while we were there, so we took turns attaching our laptops to the network cable in the den, so we still had Internet access. When we first arrived, the refrigerator didn't work, but the property mgmt. firm promptly addressed the matter. There's a Walmart Supercenter and Publix supermarket nearby, once you wend your way through the large development. The beaches on Anna Maria Island (about 25-30 min. away) were particularly nice.

stayed 1 week 20th oct 2008. house and pool not clean.pool heat did not work.theres a smell from tap water its a known problem.and had we known would never had booked the villa.
Owner's Response: This review was posted 7 months after the holiday was taken. The guest refers to dirty pool and house. The only two specifics complained about were a mark on a bedspread, immediately cleaned by managing agents, and dirt and debris around pool during what was after all the hurricane season.

Pool heating had not been turned on and this was a genuine error rectified immediately. The client however complained all week that the pool was not up to temperature despite our managing agents confirming that it was working correctly. Nonetheless we refunded the client the money he had paid for pool heating.

The smell from the water system was not known to us and was apparently due to the house being empty prior to their arrival. The taps were run for some time and the smell diminshed and after their departure the whole water system was drained and cleaned as a precaution and the problem has not recurred.

We have been renting this property and using it ourselves now for 15 months and we have not had any other difficulties either before or after these particular guests stayed in our home. We have had nothing but positive feedback from our guests with regard to the house, facilities and the attentions of our managing agents.
