Activities:
Kayaking expeditions, both half and full day, are available in the nearby Gorge de la Sioule.
There are a lot of signed walks in the area, books and maps available.
Horse riding, quad biking, paragliding and golf can all be done in the local area.
There are many Plan d'Eau with beaches and lakes nearby in addition to the cottage's own swimming pool which guests are welcome to use during their stay.
Culture:
Vichy is home to a stunning Opera house as well as it's thermal spas which are definitely worth a visit. Buy a traditional glass and taste some of the famous local spa water. Vieux Vichy is a must as is the Musee de l'Opera. Vichy also boasts its own beach with lots of events put on during summer months.
Nearer the house itself, there are innumerable museums, art galleries, chateaux and other historical buildings to see such as the Chateau in Bellenaves, the Clock Museum in Charroux and the National Costume Museum in Moulins. This museum, housed in an old chateau, regularly has exihibtions by designers such as Christian Lacroix and Jean-Paul Gaultier.
Nearby there is also 'Vulcania', a theme park telling the story of the region and the volcanoes which complements a visit to the stunning Puy de Dome perfectly. If you don't wish to stray far from the cottage, 'Wolframines', a geological museum is two minutes away while the dinosaur museum in Gannat is only 15 mins away.
Leisure:
There are many excellent, reasonably priced restaurants in the area such as Le Castel in Chouvigny at the top of the Gorge de la Sioule and L'Hostellerie du Chateau in nearby Bellenaves, a small town with a excellent market every Wednesday.
Finally, there is ample opportunity to just sit and relax in the peace and tranquillity.
