Leilani Sim-Godbehere purchased this estate in 1995
I love both these houses and have lived many years in both of them until I had to move away. I enjoy sharing there uniqueness and beauty with our guests.
We were blown away by this well cared for home and grounds. The pictures do not do it justice. This was the perfect place for our family vacation. Easy drive to all activities. Plenty of room for everyone to relax be it inside or out. The house is well appointed with everything to insure a comfortable stay. Leilani is a gem of a hostess and an expert communicator. We hope to visit again.
Beautiful home with well maintained yard.
We stayed with three couples here. The house is very noisy, the flushing of the downstairs bathroom could be heard throughout the home and on rainy days it was also very loud.
The place really needed cleaning. It appeared that it hadn't been used in some time and was dusty, dirty. Bathrooms weren't clean and had dried toothpaste in the sink and hair in the shower. For the price you pay, would expect it to be spotless.
While we enjoyed our time on the island very much, next time would choose different accommodations.
This beautiful house exceeded our expectations by far! The amazing sun deck for relaxing and watching the sun rise from the ocean and the stars at night, the luxorious equipment, the spacious lawn running down to the water. The kitchen is fully equipped, so that we didn't have to go out. The location is a perfect starting point for trips to discover Oahu. We will definitely return if we find a chance - the owner Leilani kept a constant lovely contact to us during preparation, our stay and afterwards.
Our stay at Java Kai was nothing short of incredible. A beautiful 30-40 minute drive after our 10 hour flight brought us to this gem of a location. The panoramic views cannot be understated. At Java Kai, you are away from it all yet have all the necessities of home. Sunrise each morning should not be missed from the deck. Our kids loved having a baseball catch out on the expansive lawn. I was unsure which part of the island to look for a rental property. After staying at Java Kai, there is no debate. The ocean, the mountains and lush green foliage make the windward side the place to be. I hope this property is available for a return visit in the near future. Thank you for your hospitality.
Stayed here over the Thanksgiving week in 2013 and had a wonderful time. We have been to Oahu many times since my brother and his family live here but they had moved to Kanehoe in 2012 and we needed to find a place near them to stay. This was perfect. We are early risers so completely enjoyed coffee on the lanai and watching the birds in the morning. A helpful hint for a rooster free night is if you even see one chicken in the yard go chase it to some where else. Only had to do this a few times and they left us alone.
This place had everything one could possibly need and more. After spending the previous week in a condo unit on Maui, getting to spread out and have some peace and quiet was fabulous. My 81 year old mother also thoroughly enjoyed staying here as it gave us a nice place to go relax after all the activity at my brother's place every day.
When we go back to visit my brother we will be renting Java Kai again if at all possible.
-Magnificient view of mountains and sea
-Beautiful comfortable house, unique design
-Clean on arrival
-Lots of towels and other things, even an old ice chest that we used on our daily travels
-Great lanai (deck) - when not raining or wet we enjoyed dinner outside
-Opening doors downstairs and watching the sunrise from bed
-Kitchen had all necessary tools, only had to buy food
-Early morning (5am)Traffic noise near upper bedroom (only 50 ft away from major highway around west side of island) - making sleep difficult. Not noticeable in lower bedrooms.
-Rooster noise many times throughout the night making sleep difficult
-Constant drip in shower in upper floor making sleep difficult, only fixed by tying multiple towels around fixture that went all the way to the floor
-30-45 minutes away from most attractions at either Honolulu or North Shore - spent too much time in car. Next time will get something closer to one or the other.
-On the water, but no walkable beach (mud flats at low tide, no path at high tide)
Java Kai is away from it all but when you want city action Honolulu and Waikiki is only 35-45 minutes away. Airport is 30-35 min drive. Nearest grocery store is Times Supermarket at 7 min drive south to Koolau Shopping Center. There is a MacDonalds on the entry as well as Consolidated movie theaters, gas, and other restaurants, shops. Kaneohe town is less than 15 min drive and has lots more shopping options and the Windward Mall. Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center has Safeway, Longs, Walgreens, Blockbuster, multiple restaurants, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, banking, and gas station. The mall has Macy's, Sears, food court, restaurants, great shopping, and Consolidated movie theaters. Kailua Beach and town is 25 min drive south. Kailua has great eateries, shopping, and sandy family beaches and is world renowned for great windsurfing. Within 10 minutes drive visit Senator Fong's Plantation, Hart and Tagami Galeries for amazing art and gardens in Kahaluu, Byodo Temple, in Temple Valley.
