We were so excited about staying here; it seemed the perfect size for all the family, 9 adults 2 children it was a short walk to the beach. After the owner’s son left, we took a better look around and found that it was not very clean. We uncovered the pool table found all kind of rubbish, there was also a fishy smell, we notice the bottom bedrooms also had an unfavorable odor and there was mold underneath the bathroom sink on the bottom floor. The top floor had a nice layout, enjoyed the jukebox, the top bedroom was large but it felt too warm even with the floor fan on, we were unable to open any windows or leave the door that open to the balcony open because it didn’t have a screen. For extra sleeping there was an air mattress but during the night it would deflate. The was a couch that was a full size bed on the ground floor. There was an over flow of trash, we were ask to place 3 large containers in the front on Sunday night for Monday morning, we arrived on a Fri. there wasn’t a container for us to place our trash in, it would have been better if the cleaning crew had at least emptied 1 of the containers. What we found in the tub in the master bath pretty much made our stay there the most uncomfortable. We were there for a wedding, we were not in a position to pack up and look for another place as it was we left a day early. The owner did call and apologize for the condition of the house, she reduce the rental fee by 50.00.
Owner's Response: It is my number one priority to have my guests show up and be happily surprised that the house looks exactly as in the photos and to most even better than they ever expected. I regret and am somewhat confounded that these guests left such a poor review. We did get a complaint their first night there which we felt we handled on Friday evening and immediately offered a $50 credit for their inconvenience. We did not hear another word from our guests until they sent an email after they left early, without any notification. I did apologize for the full trash cans, as apparently a prior guest may have forgotten to set out the trash cans on the previous Monday. The leak we were unaware of under the sink that caused a small amount of mildew has been repaired. I have used the same cleaning people for the past seven years and I believe every other review I have validates the excellent job they do. I will check the queen aerobed that was purchased one month prior to our guests stay and make sure there is no defect. I am happy to discuss any concerns our future guests may have regarding this review.
