Caveat Emptor!!!!!!!

Total Bummer. I was pumped to get this place because it was right where I needed to be and the pics looked good. Plus there were several "positive" reviews. I've lived in NYC for over 10 years and have a realistic view of how things work, this was not it. I was back to visit friends and family. Had my wife and 2 kids with me. We rolled into this apartment and not a single thing had been cleaned!!!!! This place was disgusting, all kinds of junk in the fridge, bathroom nasty, floors sticky, towels and sheets dirty. Good thing I told my wife to wash everything before we used it, can you imagine! Disgusting. I spent literally the first 5 hours in the kitchen, bathroom, and the laundry room cleaning this place. I called the person that rented this place to me and told her and she confirmed that it hadn't been cleaned. For what I paid I expected at least a clean apartment!!!
Now for the rest, the place is pretty used up. Obviously it's a rental and they aren't going to put much money into it, but the stuff is all ratty and worn out. The floors are shot, the rugs are pretty trashed, the couch is skanky, the beds are lumpy, etc... I wasn't expecting Mandarin Oriental even though I paid insane money to stay here.
I'm not a neat freak or anything like that. I spend about 75 days a year in a hotel for business and pleasure travel, but I've never seen anything like this.
The only positives here are that it is in a good location. The AC worked pretty well and they did have cable and internet which was good too.
Owner's Response: What happened is that there was a mix up in the guest arrival time and the cleaner did not get there before the guest arrived so it was not cleaned on time. It was an isolated incident and the reason the guest's wife cleaned herself is because when the cleaners arrived very shortly after the guests, they were turned away.
All the furniture is new and clean as you can see from my previous reviews. The apartment looks just like the pictures, the kitchen and bath have been recently.
I assure you that if you decide on this property,it will be clean and new as always and if there are any additional needs, they will be taken care of instantly.
