Casa Luce in San Lorenzo is located in the spacious Piazza del Mercato Centrale in San Lorenzo, at number 27, in the heart of Florence. It is within 5 minutes walking distance from the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore and the Baptistery of San Giovanni, and within 10 minutes walking distance from the Uffizi, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio.
Casa Luce can easily be reached by car and agreement can be taken for the parking. Nevertheless a car is not needed: the main train station is 5 minutes away and all the city centre is within walking distance. Bicycles can be easily rented and sightseeing buses stop at 5 minutes of walk from home.
The flat, on the second floor of a XVI century building, is completely renewed not only in its structure, but also in its elegant and refined interiors. It has been furnished with ancient furniture and it is well equipped as we ourselves often come to enjoy Florence, sometimes with a couple of friends.
LOCATION AND DIRECTIONS: The location is another strong point. In the very heart of Florence, Casa Luce is located within 5 minutes walking distance from the Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore and the Baptistery of San Giovanni, and within 10 minutes walking distance from the Uffizi, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio.

EATING IN FLORENCE: Right in Piazza del Mercato Centrale there are many restaurants and trattorias where you can eat. During the mild season it is pleasant to eat at the outside tables. I will be pleased to give you information and suggestions on the ones I prefer.
For grocery shopping nothing is better than the typical colored banks of fruit, vegetables, fresh bread, milk, meat and cheese located inside the nineteenth century building of the Mercato Centrale, right in front of you. (Mon-Sat 7am-2pm, Sat 4pm-8pm). There is plenty of fresh produce, cured meat, and local cheese to be sampled and purchased from a variety of vendors.
You can also consider that in Via Ginori there is a market which is open everyday until 7:00 p.m., even on Sunday.

Of Florentine origin, I left my home town for love and adventure. I'm an art historian and I live in Montevarchi (Arezzo), a small town in the Chianti area, not too far from Florence.
Baba purchased this apartment in 2008
I bought Casa Luce because I grew up in Florence and I love my town so much. I didn't buy it only for rental purposes: I often come to Florence myself-alone or with friends- for a relaxing weekend, for a special dinner or to visit an art exhibition.
A cozy, neat, well appointed hideaway in the heart of San Lorenzo, Casa Luce is elegant and comfortable.
The hosts of this lovely apartment are warm and hospitable and make sure that their guests are taken care of well.
Barbara was extremely kind, helpful and her apartment was perfect for our time in Florence. Amazing choice of restaurants located right below. Loved the fact that the Duomo is less than 5 minutes. Absolutely Beautiful! We enjoyed every minute of our time. Will stay here again.
My wife, teenage daughter and I spent 4 days in Florence at this nce apartment in Florence. The kitchen is new and fully stocked for use. Barbara is very sweet and friendly. The pros are that Florence is small and this apartment is in a good place in town to start from. The negative is that the activity at the Mercato Central starts early with vendors setting up their areas and recycling effortsn the square creating loud noises. If you are a light sleeper it will wake you up.
The beautiful apartment is exactly as described, renovated with ancient furniture yet it has all modern amenities that you would not expect. The apartment is centrally located but not so noisy. We truly enjoyed exploring the central market which is just a few steps from the apartment. We were able to enjoy an authentic Florence experience by staying in this apartment.
My husband, 12 year daughter, 14 year old son and I really enjoyed this small but comfortable and clean vacation rental. The price was reasonable and the apartment was centrally located making it easy for us to walk to all the site we wanted to visit. Several restaurants such as Za Za's are near by. There is also a huge indoor market making grocery and suveneir shopping easy.
The owner met us personally and ensured we had everything needed for a pleasant say including a map of the area.
The only thing to be mindful of are the many stairs to the apartment. Not a problem unless you have mobility issues.
We would stay here again. Thanks Barbara helping us make some fabulous memories!!
We had a bit of trouble finding the location of the apartment, but once we did everything was perfect. Barbara was extremely helpful and pleasant, and the location was fantastic. Highly recommended.
We arrived in Florence and met the owner Barbara at the door. She is the sweetest woman and walked us through everything about the apartment and let us know if we needed anything to call right away.
The apartment. It is a very cute railroad style layout. 2 twin beds that can be put together for a king. Two huge windows in your bedroom open up to the central market and cafés outside. Kitchen and bathroom are very nice with a bidet and washing machine with a supplied drying rack. Barbara also gives you detergent and fabric softener!!! Awesome lady. It is a 2 flight walk up the stairs with no elevator which was no big deal for us.
This apartment is right near everything you need to see and the central market is across the street for your meat and veggie and fruit needs. Take my advice and avoid the tourist trap restaurants which is like 75 percent of them. There is a restaurant called Za-Za right below this apartment that was out of this world good. If you eat there every night for your whole trip you won't be disappointed.
All in all great place, great location and great owner! Don't hesitate to book.
Thank you again Barbara!!
Monument View: You look over the square of the San Lorenzo Central Market, right in the centre of Florence.
The panorama is enchanting, with a splendid view over the large square of the remarkable nineteenth century building of the Mercato Centrale, one of three covered food markets built when Florence was the capital of Italy post-unification in 1860, a rarity for Florentine Renaissance standards.
The apartment is in the very center of Florence, perfect for art touring. Just few minutes walk to Michelangelo’s Medici Chapels, the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the Duomo of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Medici Library, the Riccardian Library and the Marucellian Library, Ponte vecchio.
Interesting shopping from famous jewellers, antique furniture restorer and italian fashon shops.
Day trips to Pisa, Lucca, Portofino and Liguria are easy with a car or by train.
