Fabulous getaway on the beach!

Just as described, casa Colibri is a wonderful place to escape form it all. Cumana is a great little community approx. 15-20 minutes away from town, which allows you total peace. A car is really a must, if you want to have the most freedom. The pool is warmed up from the shallow section, allowing for comfortable night swimming (which we weren't able to find before). The beach is almost deserted and depending on the moon, the waves are awesome! Great for boogie boarding! You can walk as far as your feet can take you in either direction on a flat and perfect walking beach. There are mosquitoes for a few hours following sunset (that sets right outside every night without fail), but if that is my only complaint, I'll take it! If you want a vacation where you want to be waited on hand and foot and not do a thing at all, then go to Huatulco or another resort town. For those looking for a getaway without the all inclusive feel, where you go to the local market in town and pick up food, check out the numerous beaches and feel like a local, then Puerto Escondido is for you and Casa Colibri is a great option. After the hustle and bustle of the town, you escape back to your own private pool and beach where nothing but the bright and shining milky way awaits you. Oh, and maybe a margarita or twelve.

Owner's Response: We are so glad the house lived up to your expectations - we try very hard to make sure we present 'truth in advertising'! We love the feeling of being part of the hustle and bustle of Puerto but then escaping back to our quiet corner of paradise. We will have to get some mosquito zappers for that pesky half hour or so at dusk! We hope you'll consider staying with us again.
