Self-catering 4 bedroom, 4 bathrooms in large historic 18C house in fully fenced grounds with views of a large lake. The estate, featured on the BBC is an 18C historic farmhouse (Casa Padronale) set in large, fully fenced secure grounds on the hills of eastern Tuscany overlooking a large beautiful lake. The English owners, Robert an orchestral conductor and Sarah a potter live in a neighbouring house on the farm estate, and have won acclaim for their restorations of listed historical properties in the UK (Daily Telegraph, Sunday Times, Period House, Period Property). Robert & Sarah looked at over 60 properties around Tuscany before they happened upon the estate in 2004 and its neighbouring town Anghiari, and knew instantly this was the place where they wanted to be. The location is truly breathtaking and unspoilt - it is in fact just like being in paradise.

Calcinaia sits just above the lake (5 mins walk to lakeside) and 8 minutes drive from the amazing medieval towns of Anghiari and Sansepolcro is just another 10 minutes futher on. We are with easy reach of Arezzo, Cortona, Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza,and Florence in Tuscany and Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio and many others in Umbria. The Adriatic coast is 90 minutes drive and Rome and be reached by train from Arezzo for in a little over an hour.

More info: Calcinaia has recently been subjected to a ‘no expenses spared’ restoration (completed May 2007) of the most exacting standards using original & antique materials – every ceiling is beamed and has the original hand-made pianelle tiles. There are cut stone door and window surrounds throughout, and all the original terra cotta floor tiles have been re-laid. All the rooms have high ceilings and the generously sized double bedrooms are en-suite. The house has its own 12x6m pool. The house is over 250sqm (2690 square feet)

Large Well Equipped Kitchen/Dining Area Large Outside Space With Fantastic 360 Degree Views 12x6 Metre Pool With Roman Steps For Exclusive Use Ample Parking Welcome Pack (Including Wine And Fresh Bread) Sleeps 9 Plus 2 babies in cots and young 1 child in travel cot

Activities and Italian Home Cooking: Sarah (owner) has a small pottery studio at Calcinaia. Many guests have explored the delights of working with clay with Sarah in her studio, either on the potters wheel of hand building. If you just want to stay in at Calcinaia one evening, why not use the services of our professional chef who will come into your Kitchen and prepare a wonderful feast for you, and even do the washing up for you leaving the kitchen spotless. On a hot evening, you can have the feast served on the terrace overlooking the lake and observe the wonderful sunset whilst drinking your own wine and enjoying the company of your friends whilst knowing you don't have to drive home.

We stayed at the property last year. The location is out of this world and the owners were very helpful. The property has been newly restored to a very high standard, and all the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. The view of the lake from the sun terrace has to make this property unique. I am not aware of another lake in Tuscany that is so quiet and peaceful. No motorised boats are allowed on the lake. We made several trips to Anghiari, Sansepolcro, Gubbio, and Siena, but mostly we just wanted to relax in the wonderful surroundings. Some friends have already booked for 2008, and we will certainly return.
