Nestled in the quite fishing town of Hau’ula, this 1 bedroom is the perfect getaway for a couple. This newly remodeled rental, with it’s own private yard and beach has everything you need. It’s a 5 minute drive to the Polynesian Culture center and a 15 minute drive to the heart of North Shore where the big waves are. But in front our our place is all reef where you can snorkel right outside the door. This is where the locals come for the weekend to get away from it all.
This is the side of the island for sunrises. Chances are you can take a beach walk in the morning and only see a soul or two.
We are local kamaaina. We are not investors from outside the islands. We can give you lots of local tips and help you plan a wonderful vacation. Find out where the best beaches are, spectacular hiking trails to waterfalls, local art and crafts shows, nearest farmer's market to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, the best restaurants where locals eat.
There’s lots of local farms nearby selling fresh organic fruits and vegetables, Tiki carvers on the road selling their craft and a world renowned golf course (Turtle Bay Resort) only minutes away.
The exterior of the rental was not represented well in the pictures. My husband and I were looking specifically for a place where we could stroll on the beach in the mornings. I sent Sheila an email prior to booking asking her to clarify that there was beach access and she assured me there was. Well, there isn't. There is a sand-filled rock wall that is lovely and relaxing, but the water comes right up to that wall. The water has been there awhile, because the steps and rocks leading into the water are mossy and very very slippery. Once you get down to the water, it is very very rocky and difficult to walk, but way too shallow to swim. We were very very disappointed in the fact that we didn't have a sandy beach or waves to play in, especially since we asked specifically before booking. Also, one of the pictures shows a large window or door that opens right up into the backyard. This must also be an old picture because the only way to access the backyard is to squeeze around the air conditioning unit on the side of the house.
Also, the entrance to the rental is down a pathway on the side of the house. There is no light, so be careful of tripping....I did...twice!
Aside from the things listed above, and feeling a bit deceived by the pictures, the house was fine. It provided us a nice place to stay and relax. The house is attached to another house, so you share walls and they are very thin walls, but overall we weren't bothered by anyone. We met Sheila once in passing and she seemed very nice. The interior was exactly as it is represented by the photos. Wasn't a bad stay. We probably wouldn't stay again, but that's just based on our personal preference of having an actual beach to enjoy .
Fabulous little getaway! We live in town but wanted a nice quiet weekend away. The hammocks, view and amazing outside shower (with hot water) made for amazing weekend. I have recommended this property to friends and visitors.
The pictures are spot on. This place is just outside of a small town with some great places to eat. Yet it is remote enough to enjoy your own piece of paradise. We saw whales past the reef each day we were out back. The sunrises are just breathtaking. Sheila helped get us acquainted with the place and the area. We never cooked anything, but did utilize the fridge.
Fantastic! Water just steps away, the outside shower was wonderful to wash off in after a dip in the ocean. Incredible sunrises. Clean. Quiet location- hardly anyone out back on the beach. It suited us quite well. Can't wait to come back!
What a find! Right on the sand (and on the surf during high-tide) with very few people walking past. If you like listening to the sound of the surf all night, you'll love this!
The only bad evening was when two guys next door appeared to be intoxicated and wrestled on their lawn late at night for about an hour.
The unit is really a studio (not a one bedroom) as it's all one room except for the bathroom. Still, it's nicely decorated and comfy for two.
The Owner's home is attached so if you need anything, they are close by.
We stayed here the end of June to the beginning of July. It was my just me and the hubby, and it was perfect! It was smaller than I expected but just right for us! The backyard and view is the best part! Sheila was great! The house is clean and well stocked. I had never cooked on a hot plate before but our food came out perfect. Fresh ahi bought from local fisherman. We would have used the BBQ but it was out of gas and I forgot to mention it. Our time there was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely book this beach house again when we return! Thank you Sheila for having such a great place and sharing it with others!
