Two Beautiful Weeks in Saint-Tropez!

As we were 1st-time VRBO renters, we were a bit nervous, especially once we started wiring payments overseas, all in advance. However, our worries evaporated the moment we walked through the door of this beautiful, comfortably elegant home! I can't imagine a better location from which to begin and return from our many day trips (Avignon, Cassis, Eze, St. Paul du Vence, Monte Carlo (time trials of the Grand Prix!), Cap d'Antibes, Cannes (walked out of parking garage just steps away from the film festival red carpet; saw Alec Baldwin and Brad Pitt!), Ramatouelle, Gassin and Nice.
We traveled with our 19-year old daughter and her friend as well as another couple with whom we are close friends and frequently travel with. There are 4 spacious bedrooms (each with it's own, en-suite bath) so both our daughter and her friend had their own rooms and each adult couple had a king bed. One of the king-bedded masters is on the first floor, and the upstairs one is at the end of a hall, so there is plenty of privacy for all. The living area is spacious and comfortable and the outdoor area is exceptionally beautiful. I will never forget the exquisite scent of the jasmine vines that climbed all the trellises and posts on the large patio. There is also a hammock to lounge in and a canvas cabana for shade. The entire backyard is completely private and screened.
The house is a very easy 20 minute walk from the center of Saint-Tropez, although we sometimes drove as there was always plenty of public parking in the lots. The walk is perfectly flat and since it is across from the water, there is a breeze. There is a good, large supermarket about 10 minutes away.
Everything in the home was in excellent condition and the kitchen was extremely well-equipped. There were so many dishes we could have thrown a party for 50! We were also delighted by the Nespresso machine, as we love espresso and have the same machine at home. There is a full-sized, roomy (even by American standards!) fridge that was spotless and empty when we arrived but did need more ice trays. It was nice to have Florence available for extra mid-week cleanings, for which we paid her directly. But be prepared to speak french to her, as she does not speak english!
The owner, Herve, was very easy to communicate with; prior to our arrival we exchanged numerous emails and his responses were always prompt and helpful. Everyone in our group loved the home and we all agreed that we would LOVE to return.
