Welcome to this genuine artist's house, only 2 minutes walking distance from Sag Harbor's marvelous Main St. where you will find a lively array of shops and galleries in addition to a variety of restaurants. Take in a concert in Marine Park, see a play at Bay Street Theatre, or watch a movie at the iconic landmark Sag Harbor Cinema. Here you can also catch the Hampton Jitney (bus service), that will take you to NYC, and the airports. (that's also the best way to get here from the City or the airports respectively... )
Enjoy the nearby beaches on Sag Harbor Bay that are only a short (10 min.) walk away. The ocean beaches, can be reached by car or bicycle in about 10-25 minutes.
Back at the house, relax in the private garden, have a barbecue and let the sun set behind the Hydrangea, watch the stars from the porch at night, or sit by the fireplace with a glass of wine or a good book...
a tour trough Ellen's House: Step into the house and you're right in the heart of everything, the lofty kitchen and adjoining dining area.
Simple, yet well equipped with everything you'll need to cook and eat at the house.
Gas stove, fridge/freezer (lightly stocked upon your arrival) dishwasher, pots, pans, toaster-oven, blender, crockery, towels. The adjoining spacious living area, with fireplace and two large skylights is perfect to relax and sit together. You will also find a guest bathroom on the ground floor.
The Master bedroom downstairs has a queen size bed and a spacious en-suite bathroom (w/ shower).
The two upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom (w/ bathtub). The east facing bedroom (morning sun) has a queen size bed, the west facing bedroom two twin size beds.
All beds have new, comfortable mattresses and high quality linen.
You will find towels, toilet paper, soap, laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid etc.
The garden is small but private, fenced in equipped with furniture and Weber grill
The Surroundings... things to do every day: Sag Harbor is a very unique little village, famous for it's unspoiled, original charm and the perfect starting point to explore Long Island's east end, from Montauk Point via the galleries and museums of East Hampton and Southampton, by ferry to Shelter Island, and all the way to the Northfork to discover it's up and coming wineries...
The Atlantic with it's long, sandy, picture-book beaches, that even in summer are never crowded are wonderful yet there is plenty more to be discover out here, like nature preserves and spectacular wildlife along the bay.
If you like sports, this is the perfect spot for you: Surfing, sailing, kayaking, golf, tennis, baseball, cycling, whatever sport you would like to practice or try, you will find the right place, instructors, or day camps for your kids in the summer months. More things to do & day trips: New York City is only a comfortable bus ride away, so you can easily spend a day in the City to see the Museums and sights. - if you would like to spend a few days, contact us, we can set you up with a very lovely and well priced place in Brooklyn! -
if you're into shopping, there is a big 'Tanger Outlet Center' in Riverhead (about 40 min. by car) that should satisfy any fashion- and bargain aficionado.
Spend a day on the Ocean and take a Whale-Watching-Trip, the boats leave from Montauk Harbor at around 9:30 a.m. and get back between 3 and 4 p.m. and don't forget to have some seafood in one of the wonderful little places out there! - you will find a guide to our favorite places at the house! -
