Why is EAGLES & ANTLERS Special?: Trish & Fred own Eagles & Antlers Retreat and lived in it for 8 years while renovating and improving both the property and the home. The house was built to be energy efficient; R55 insulation, 12 inch thick walls, low E glass windows. The retreat is also situated to take advantage of the wildlife in the area, and to give you the feeling of being in your own little forest. Pines, aspens, and sagebrush, wildflowers and native grasses surround the home and add a feeling of total privacy to the deck/waterfall/brook area. Sit with a glass of wine and a good book, or just take a nap and rest assured that no one will bother you. You may see elk and deer behind the house, or see the shadow of an eagle or other bird of prey soar above you....but that all adds to the peaceful nature of the setting.

Trish & Fred have operated a very successful vacation home in San Diego for 5 years and take the business seriously. They are also Wilderness Ranch residents who are passionate about sharing Idaho!

About Trish or Fred

We're outdoor & nature enthusiasts who sought a place in Idaho's mountains where we could enjoy the forest, wildlife, and serenity of a mountain setting without being too far away from our full time jobs. This place fit the bill perfectly. In a half hour, we can be in town and shop, visit friends, or see a movie. But when we are home, we feel like we're in a vacation resort!

Trish or Fred purchased this house in 2002
Why Trish or Fred chose Boise

The property was sort of plain when we bought it, but through the magic of my husband's design and building talent, the retreat turned into a gem! Friends always wanted to hang out at our place; we found ourselves relaxing on the deck until dark and beyond. We often commented to each other that we lived in a place most people would love to vacation in! And that's how Eagles & Antlers Retreat came to be! We live just down the hill from the retreat, and we're working on our new home to make it as much of a unique, enchanting setting as our original home in the mountains is!

What makes this house unique

We run a clean, quiet, well appointed vacation home that's a step above most. WIFI, Air Conditioning, beautiful furniture and decor, and a well manicured yard/garden area surrounding the water features. We cater mainly to adults and small families with children age 8 and above. Extra features make the home unsuitable for younger children and toddlers.

We had a wonderful time when we visited A & E recently. Trish and Fred are warm and welcoming hosts. The home is, as it appears in its pictures, clean, well appointed, and nicely decorated with breath taking views in all directions.
We are city folk, so were really impressed when we had wild life visitors every day...wild turkey, deer, elk and beautiful blue Steller Jays. While the house is in a mountain location...it was only a 20 minute drive to a major grocery store and not too far from downtown Boise. Very convenient.
We packed in many side trips during our stay, which included a trip to World Center for Birds of Prey, a must do while you are there, totally amazing, amazing birds. Downtown Boise is loaded with very nice restaurant's for all us" Foodies". We had dinner one evening in McCall at Bistro 45, a wine bar with great food.
We also drove the tour up the Payette and Snake Rivers, very beautiful as well. We went to the Boise Zoo where the animals were up close and personal. Never have been that close to a Tiger before. BIG.
Check out the size of those paws.
I would not hesitate recommending this property to anyone. There were many more things we meant t do but ran out of time. Great reason to return!!!

My family meets once a year for a vacation and we made a great choice to stay at this beautiful home! Trish and Fred were so accomodating and made sure our stay was memorable!! We spent the day at the Birds of Prey and found it to be awsome; wonderful work they are doing there with the birds! The home was immaculate and we enjoyed our time inside and outside as the surroundings were so restful. The landscaping with the porches and outside furniture was a plus! Having the laundry room made my stay so comfortable especially after hiking and seeing the yellowstone national park and grand titons! I felt so at home and enjoyed seeing the wild animals! The elk coming every am and pm were something we have never experienced! So many nice hiking areas which are picuturesk. We would love to return in the future. So much to do and see in this area that there is something for every taste; we highly recommend it! 5 stars!!!
Owner's Response: We are so glad to hear that people enjoy the wildlife here as much as we do! Sitting on the deck with a glass of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine as the sun sets and watching a herd of elk graze near by is something truly memorable.
Whie we aren't close to Yellowstone or the Grand Tetons, they are just a day away and if you are traveling there, make a trip to Idaho and visit us at Eagles & Antlers as these guests did.

Fred & Trish are wonderful hosts and made this stay a relaxing and memorable time for us. This is by far the cleanest vaca. rental we have ever been in. It was so peaceful and quite here, I just loved listening to the elk bugleing and sitting beside the Koi pond hearing the waterfall and the breeze blowing thru the trees was amazing. We had wild turkeys right outside the window most every day and elk all around the house, loved all the wildlife we saw. Even though you have that wonderful feeling like your a million miles away, your really just a hop, skip & a jump from Boise. Idaho City was a great place to explore and Trudy's has really great food. My husband had some great golfing times at Warmsprings & Boise area. We like scenic drives and went to Stanley Lake & Red Fish Lake both were very beautiful, we got to see an eagle fishing over Stanley lake, what a sight to see. We also went to McCall, a cute little town right beside Payette Lake, it was very pretty there. By far the best thing we did while we were there was visit the World Center for Birds of Prey !!! an amazing place that is doing so much for the preservation of these beautiful birds around the world. The outdoor flight show is a must see. I take my hat off to you Trish and the peolpe that work there, this a wonderful facility. This was a very relaxing vaca. for us. Thanks again Fred & Trish and hope to see you again.

Owner's Response: We knew we were on the right track when we decided to make our former home into a vacation rental. Reading reviews about how much folks enjoy the house and it's setting, the critters they see regularly, helps us realize that this is indeed a special place. We are delighted to share it with others to enjoy Idaho and all it has to offer!

My husband and I couldn't be happier with our decision to stay in this lovely vacation home. We have stayed in several other vacation properties and this is by far the very best. There are a lot of pictures posted, but honestly they don't do this place justice. It is so clean, comfortable and well maintained. Trish and Fred are delightful hosts and are willing to help you with any thing. The wildlife is absolutely amazing. Lots of elk, mule deer and birds. All we want on vacation is peace and solitude and I just couldn't have asked for more.

You won't be sorry if you choose this gem of a place!
Owner's Response: We love the idea that our photos don't do the retreat justice.......we've actually had potential guests write and ask "is it REALLY as clean and nice as it LOOKS?" and now I can tell them...."no....it's BETTER".
Meeting people from all over the country and sharing our little gem of a place with them and talking to them about what they want to experience while they are here is rewarding. I guess I better brush up on my photo skills, though....to live up to the beautiful setting here.

We heartily recommend Eagles and Antlers for anyone visiting the Boise, Idaho area. The house is situated in a quiet and peaceful mountain setting, blessed with incredible scenery, an abundant mix of wildlife (birds/deer/elk – to name a few), and an endless supply of magnificent views, hiking, and things to do. The House offered easy access to the City of Boise for our frequent dining, shopping, and other recreational needs.

This is truly a majestic place – the peace and solitude that this mountaintop escape provides leaves us wanting to return. The house was VERY clean and comfortably furnished, the views of the surrounding mountains/valleys were exceptional, and the owners, Trish and Fred, were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. There are winding trails to explore during the day, mesmerizing sunsets to enjoy in the evening and incredible stargazing opportunities at night – we’re definitely looking forward to going back! The land is exquisitely picturesque, vast and magical, and for those must haves… the house is equipped with Wireless Internet and Direct TV access.

Thanks Trish & Fred for a very memorable 5 week stay!!!

Owner's Response: These folks stayed at Eagles and Antlers for 5 weeks and truly spent their time exploring every inch of trails, streams, and roads in the vicinity. We like to say we've got an unlimited amount of great things to see and do around here and this couple are the perfect example of that.
We were amazed to be driving somewhere in the car and see them hiking miles from the retreat! If you are into hiking and trekking, kayaking, bicycle riding, or anything else active, you will not be disappointed. It was such a pleasure to watch these guests enjoy their vacation time here.
