You just found the perfect get away! Whether it’s you and your family or you and your best friends, we have a place that was designed for gatherings. Built in 2007, this craftsman bungalow has all the modern amenities, but with a homey nod to the past.

A long, winding driveway leads you through the woods to the house, which overlooks a pond for fishing, a grassy field for lawn games, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows under the stars. Inside, an open floor plan lets you all be together while comfy bedrooms and an additional sitting room allow for downtime. In cooler months, hunker down by the wood-burning fireplace. Step outside to enjoy covered porches, a screened-in dining porch, grilling terrace, pergola, another fire pit, outdoor shower and walking trails.

Whether you bike, hike, swim, kayak, shop, antique, dine, gamble, golf, or just relax in the hammock, there’s always something to do. Like other guests who’ve found us, we’re sure you’ll want to return again and again.

The House: The main floor of the house is an open floor plan with the gourmet kitchen, dining room with large farmhouse table, and a living with a wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, granite and walnut countertops, large pantry, and a screened outdoor dining porch. Other outdoor porches have rockers, upholstered furniture, and ceiling fans. The main floor master suite includes a full bath with large shower, washer/dryer, queen size bed and french doors leading outside. The second floor has 2 bedrooms, one with a queen sized bed and the other with two twin beds. Also upstairs is a sitting room with a pull-out sofa and doors that lead out to a balcony. The second floor has a full bathroom with tub/shower.The house has all of the comforts of home, central air, wood burning fireplace, large-screen/satellite TV, Blu-ray player, DVD/CD player, and audio system with speakers throughout the inside and outside of the house. The house is secured with an alarm system.

The Land: This charming cottage, nestled in the woods of Michigan, is named for the various species of holly bushes grown on site. As you enter the private 20 acres, you are greeted by a park-like area, with flower beds and tree specimens. This area also features a fruit orchard, containing apples, peaches, and pears, and a large fresh vegetable garden. The gravel driveway leads you through this open area into the woods, winding down a tree lined drive to the house, set back in the woods near the creek and stones through from the large pond. Walking trails radiate out from the house and circle the property. Tucked away in the woods is a third fire pit, which is in the center of an area of campsites carved from the woods.

This house is located just outside of South Haven and is about a 2 hours from Chicago and about 3 hours from Detroit. The town is known for it’s Lake Michigan beaches, it’s many festivals, farmer’s market and gracious hospitality.

South Haven is halfway between the other harbor towns St. Joseph and Saugatuck/Douglas which both make for easy day-trips. The area is also known as 'Harvest Country' for it’s many u-pick fruit orchards and winery tours. Besides Lake Michigan, there are many inland lakes for fishing and rivers for canoeing and kayaking.

The area has plenty of art galleries, museums and historic sites to keep the mind as well as the body occupied.

Summer is abuzz with sun-soaked activities which stretch into the fall when rolling hills and woods become ablaze with color. Winter festivals, outdoor ice-skating, and snowmobiling keep folks busy in the snowy months.

My girlfriend and I were looking for a late October weekend getaway from Chicago and were lucky enough to find The HollyWoods. We were going to be arriving late and Jim was very accommodating, meeting us at 5:30pm to show us the easy to use personalized security system and walk us through his beautifully appointed home - first class touches all around.

The home is very inviting and thoughtfully laid out with everything you'll need besides groceries for a great stay. We had a little trouble figuring out the sound system and living room tv even with instructions but we did eventually figure it out. The views from every window are great! Just take a seat on the side porch and you'll realize a lot of thought went into the orientation of the home on the property. Speaking of which, the property itself is beautiful, with walking paths, a great private pond, a couple of barbecue grills, multiple outdoor seating areas and firepits, and accent lighting all over the place, even along the walking paths on the property!

While The HollyWoods is off the beaten path, it's also just minutes from downtown South Haven and Lake Michigan. Unless you need to be in the thick of everything, The HollyWoods is in a perfect location.

We only spent a long weekend there but within the first 20 minutes of exploring the property we knew we'd be coming back.

HollyWoods of South Haven is everything described in the listing...and more! Our anticipation grew as we slowly drove along a winding lane through autumn painted woods. What an inviting and sophisticated house awaited us, skirted with cozy outdoor spaces and exquisite landscaping. We no sooner parked the van when our two and five year old grandchildren shot out of the woods, across a green expanse and into our arms. We were all in South Haven to celebrate our younger daughter's wedding. This beautiful and gracious house...where the outside "came in" through large windows...became our "home away from home" for the next two days. The paths through the woods became a land of enchantment for not only our grandchildren but also their parents and us. HollyWoods was the perfect place to stay and make memories of this important event in our lives and Jim was the perfect host. Thank you for sharing your beautifully designed home and property with us, Jim and Kyle. We can't wait to return!

Better than the pictures!

My children arrived at The Holly Woods before I did, and called me on the road to say the property was even better than the pictures. Yesterday I received a memory book of photos from my youngest daughter with a record of our fish-catching, puzzle-working, gourmet-cooking, s'mores-making, Olympics-watching, book-reading, quiet-timing, merry-making week at this wonderful getaway. It was fun pretending it was our very own and none of us was ready to leave at the end of our week. Thank you Jim and Kyle.

We had such a great family vacation at Hollywoods. We've been telling family & friends about the special house, property, and week we spent there. Such a unique vacation for city folk to spend time in the country but still get that 5 star experience with the beautiful home :) We will be back soon!
