This spacious home is located right on Garrison Lake with views of the Pacific Ocean. The side of the home facing the lake and ocean is all windows, including a roomy sun-porch, so you can enjoy this tremendous view all day long, relaxing in comfortable bamboo chairs, eating your meals at the dining table or gazing out the window over the kitchen sink.
The living room/kitchen area is open and airy, looking out onto the sun-porch and the views beyond. On the main floor of the home there are three very comfortable bedrooms (two with queen beds and one with two twins) and two full bathrooms. One bedroom looks onto the lake/ocean with a sliding glass door opening onto a deck. There is also a futon couch which sleeps two on the sun-porch.
There is a large downstairs area with a bedroom that has one queen sized Futon and a loft bed, an enclosed porch with a ping pong table to entertain the kids, a two car garage as well as bicycles of various sizes for the entire family to use. The home is located right on the lake with a private boat dock. There is a Kayak provided for guest use as well as life jackets, fishing poles and a crab pot.
The home has been lovingly refurbished by the new owners. It features a fully stocked kitchen, all new furniture and furnishings (including 100% cotton sheets that feel great!) and a washer/dryer for your convenience.
If you are not familiar with Port Orford, it is a very unique coastal community. Founded in 1851, Port Orford is the oldest platted townsite on the Oregon coast and the most westerly city in the continental U.S. Port Orford has spectacular seascapes, uncrowded beaches and an abundance of fresh air and wild winds.
The port of Port Orford is the only natural, open water port for 600 miles and only one of six 'dolly' ports in the world. Fishing boats can't be moored in the harbor due to it being unprotected from southerly winds, so the boats are hoisted in and out each day.
Port Orford has a very active artistic community, with many art galleries owned and operated by working artists, including some genuinely world-class talents.
For the outdoor enthusiast, the Port Orford area offers ocean surfing, windsurfing, fishing, boating, hiking, beachcombing, crabbing, clamming and more. Hikers who make it to the top of the three mile trail up Humbug Mountain are rewarded with impressive vistas of the Oregon coast. The hike thru lovely virgin forests includes groves of the rare Port Orford Cedar.
Port Orford is filled with interesting and quirky people, an unhurried atmosphere and no stop lights. It has a unique style and relaxing energy that sets it apart from other coastal communities.
The yes sisterhood visited and loved every minute. As with women everywhere we talked and ate walked the beach watched the birds. We shopped the galleries and left some some $ behind. We loved the dock here in town. Thak you!
We had a great visit at Blue Haven... plenty of room for our whole family and fun things to do for all the ages. With a number of little ones in our family it can be difficult to find a place that has everything we need and is still affordable. Blue Haven had it all. We all enjoyed the bikes, kayaks, and nearby beaches. We were there 5 full days and never once got bored. My only suggestion is that some of the appliances & bed frames could certainly stand to be updated. The twin beds were okay for the 2 & 4 year old but I know I certainly wouldn't have wanted to sleep in them. The girls didn't mind one bit though and it was definitely nice to have a house that was comfortable for the adults but we weren't terrified about the children thrashing anything. The house allowed for a good mix of activity and quiet rest (if that is at all possible with 4 kids 5 & under beneath the same roof). Even amidst the "chaos" adults were able to get in some quiet reading time with great views, enjoy games in the sun room, and venture out for some romantic views in the kayak. We would definitely return if we ever find ourself planning a trip to Port Orford again.
Our family really liked the property. It was comfortable, clean and well located. I wish that the property management team was more responsive. They consistently neglected my calls and have yet (5 weeks later) to refund the deposit.
I would recommend the house to friends if the property management team was more helpful.
We rented this cottage for four days and did not have a good experience with Robin. She was unfriendly and didn't return phone calls promptly or at all. There was a miscommunication about payment and i was told after we had already unpacked, that if we did not pay her immediately she would come and take the keys away from us.........even though we were already in the house. Never once did she ask how we enjoyed the stay or if we needed anything.
House was all right, yes the sunroom and view are stunning, but it lacks charm and coziness. If you plan on using the downstairs basement, don't expect much.
If i would the owners i would get a new property manager, she was really awful.
This house felt like visiting Grandma and Grandpa's... Very comfortable and cozy. It has everything you need and the views are amazing! The sun room is a great place to start the day and also offered a quite place to do a puzzle or read while others watched a movie. We'll definitely visit Blue Haven again!
I come back to Port Orford every 4th of July with my
wife and kids. We have stayed in a few different
places over the years. This was our favorite, the
location and view were beautiful. The house is great.
We will book the Blue Haven again. Enjoyed by all.
