SUNNY AND COMFORTABLE 3-BEDROOM VICTORIAN FLAT IN THE MISSION DISTRICT

Special Offer! 20% discount on short notice booking April 27 - May 17

Potrero Hill Apartment Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 6

Our home is your home! This is a lovely 3 bedroom home which is the second floor flat in a 2-unit Victorian building. With high ceilings, hardwood floors, big windows and gracious spaces, along with warm colors and tasteful furnishings, you will feel very comfortable and at home! Two large bedrooms sleep four adults comfortably, plus a small third bedroom can be used to accommodate up to six. The sunny and warm kitchen, dining room and deck look out on a lovely back garden with lemon trees and cala lilies, and pleasant vistas of Bernal Hill to the south and Noe Valley and Diamond Heights to the west. The flat is on a nice residential street in the central and hip Mission District. You'll find endless great restaurants and galleries, fun pubs, and interesting local neighborhood life in the Mission, just around the corner. But with its central location and great access to transport, it's also a great place to be based for enjoying the whole city or beyond!

The Neighborhood:: The house is on a residential street adjacent to the 24th Street corridor in the Mission District. The Mission is San Francisco at its absolute vibrant best! Historically the center of the Mexican community in SF -- now with gentrification and SF's most cutting edge food, art and cultural scenes -- it is a diverse and interesting place! Within a few blocks walk you'll find countless traditional Mexican eateries, along with some of the hottest 'foodie' destination spots in the city (St Francis Fountain, Dynamo Doughnuts, Roosevelt Tamale Parlor, Pal's Takeaways, Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream), fun pubs (Pop's!), the Brava Theater, plenty of other eatery choices including sushi, Thai and Vietnamese. The Mission is the center of public wall mural art in SF and has great galleries. BART rail, SF Muni bus and US-101/I-80 are all close with easy access to the rest of the City and the Bay Area. Downtown, SOMA and Castro all nearby and easy to enjoy.

The House:: Built in 1890, we purchased and renovated the house in 2002. It is pleasant and homey, with classical Victorian grace and charm, making it a comfortable place to be and relax. You'll find quality and tasteful furnishings and appointments, typical of a home (as it is!) rather than a vacation rental. With two larger bedrooms (queen beds) and one smaller bedroom (full bed), the flat will be most comfortable for about 4 persons sharing, but can sleep up to 6. It is perfect for a family, or for two couples travelling together. The kitchen is well-equipped and good for cooking and the dining room is pleasant for quiet dinners in. You will be pleased with the amenities and comfortable in the space - we're sure you'll feel at home!

Your Hosts:: Tom and Thomas are the owners - we live and work in Africa with our kids and dogs, and only get to stay at home in San Francisco a few weeks each year. So we decided to share the place with you. Hope you enjoy!

Susan and Stewart are the owners of the first floor flat, where they live with their young daughter. They will help you with check-in and out and any needs during your stay. They'll make you feel most welcome.

Our families are a diverse and multi-national lot. We come from different countries and have homes on four continents! We love San Francisco best though; we think you'll like it too.

The location is fantastic--just a short walk from the 24th St. BART station and close to bars, restaurants, groceries, a pharmacy and just about anything else you would need to visit. You're close to all the action in the Mission, but it's tucked just far enough off any main drags so that noise isn't an issue.

The apartment itself is great. Roomy, clean, well designed, and nicely furnished.

The owner is overseas when the rental is available, but he's still great with communication and the next door neighbour is also available if there's any issues while you're there.

I came down for SF Craft Beer Week with two friends, but it would also be great for couples or families.

The apartment is very comfortable, tasteful, and well maintained. And the location is outstanding. The Mission is clearly in transition but full of life, with a ton of great food and shopping options. A great place from which a family can explore the city.
Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the nice review. And glad you liked The Mission district - it has so much to offer! Please consider coming back soon.

This was a perfect rental for our family of four (two adults and two young children). The location is excellent, you can walk to so many great places. The apartment itself is gorgeous. Great sunlight, comfortable, spacious, a well-equipped kitchen (there were even high quality chef's knives, definitely a rarity in my VRBO experiences). The beds are comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate. The decor is subtle and tasteful. The owners are excellent with communication. There were no surprises. The front, street-facing bedroom may be a little loud for light sleepers, but we didn't use it so it wasn't an issue for us. Out of nearly 10 VRBO rentals over the last four years, this was the best we have stayed in to date. If we could move to SF, we would try to get a place just like this one! Thank you.

I can't recommend the house on Hampshire highly enough! We needed a central, cozy place for four board members of our national organization to stay while they were in town for a board meeting. The price was reasonable, the house is gorgeous (photos totally accurate, place is spotless and warmly decorated with great taste), the location is super, the arrangements were easy. But most important for me, Tom was incredibly responsive and helpful. After dealing with a lot of flaky people or just totally unresponsive ones on airbnb, it was a breath of fresh air to have an open, ongoing dialogue based on trust and our shared interest in renting this place for the weekend. It really can be that easy! I would highly recommend this spot to anyone. In fact, I live in San Francisco and would consider renting it myself for the weekend just to have a peaceful, pretty little getaway across the city.

We were so very pleased with our stay here and can't wait to return! We are a family of 4 with 2 active, elementary school aged kids. This lovely townhouse allowed us the comfort of a kitchen, space to relax and play, and was in an amazing location near restaurants, a park, and all kinds of adventures. Living in a small, midwestern suburban town, this rental provided us with comfort and affordability in the heart of the city. It was the perfect way to share a glimpse of San Fransisco with the kids. We recommend highly!
Owner's Response: Thanks Karen! I hope that you all will return for an SF holiday every year!

The Mission District is an ethnically diverse and hip urban neighborhood, a mix of quiet residential streets and interesting neighborhood retail districts, and the center of public mural art in San Francisco. The 24th Street corridor at your doorstep has countless great restaurants and fun bars, including a number of destination restaurants popular with the 'foodie' crowd of urban hipsters! The popular Valencia corridor is just a short distance away in the Mission too, with another wide selection of popular restaurants, bars, shops and galleries. The flat is 1 block from major city bus lines and an easy 15 minute walk to the BART (metro rail) station at Mission and 24th Streets. It is also a 2 block walk to San Francisco General Hospital. Downtown, SOMA, the Castro, Noe Valley, and other popular destinations beyond the Mission are convenient by public transit or even bicycle. For folks needing to commute either to the Peninsula/San Jose, or across the Bay Bridge to Oakland and beyond, easy access to US-101 and I-80 is also just blocks from the flat, making it one of the quickest commuting locations from the city. It's an interesting and vibrant neighborhood and will be a convenient home base for many San Francisco visitors.

Notes:
You'll find comfortable furnishings and appointments. Since it is our home too and our co-owner's family lives in the building, we hope you'll treat it with care and respect. No large-group entertainment (parties!) are allowed and we request you check with us in advance if you are planning any guests. Absolutely no smoking or use of candles is allowed inside of the house! You may smoke outdoors on the back deck only. You don't need a car if you stay here and wish to enjoy the city. If you do have a car, street parking is available and safe but with various restrictions such as residential permits, street cleaning times, and the like. Overnight and weekend parking near to the flat is generally fine. Daytime on weekdays from 0800 to 1800 is more difficult, generally requiring visitors (non-residents) to move the car every 1-2 hours. SF General Hospital also has a parking deck with paid parking available 2 blocks away.
