Tucked away on tree-lined 7th Street, this peaceful 700 square foot garden flat with private entrance, sleeps up to 4 and is an ideal place to call home while you’re away from home. The apartment is a perfect mix of old and new – a tasteful and eclectic mix of antique and modern furnishings, with original parquet wood floors, tin ceilings, and built-in cabinetry along with a full kitchen and bathroom.

Amenities: Bedroom / Sitting Room: The spacious and comfortable front bedroom/sitting room has a Sealy queen-size bed, 32” flat screen TV and DVD player, and cozy conversation nook.
Kitchen / Living Room: The rear kitchen/living room has a top of the line Crate and Barrel sleeper sofa and farm table for dinners for 2 to 6 people. Ideal for those who love to cook, the extremely large eat in kitchen is fully equipped with gas range, full size refrigerator. Prepare and enjoy a family dinner here!
Pantry/Office Space: Off the kitchen is a pantry nook and office – with Time Warner high speed internet and apartment wide WiFi – that looks out onto the lush garden.
Garden: The exclusive paradise garden is a rare Brooklyn find – a 1,350 square foot oasis, beautifully landscaped with shaded patio seating, a propane grill, a hammock for napping or relaxing with a book in the shade, and a meditative pathway, bench and waterfall. During your stay you can enjoy the solitude of this pastoral setting or should you desire socializing the spacious backyard can accommodate your family gathering comfortably.
Accessibility: The Seventh Street Home & Garden location affords easy access to both LaGuardia Airport and JFK International Airport, local car services or NYC taxi cabs, and just three blocks from Manhattan and Queens bound subways.
This was my 4th trip to NYC, staying in 4 different VRBO flats, and this was the best one yet! What a lovely flat, and very gracious hosts! The space was roomy and light, with beautiful hardwood floors and lovely furnishings. I especially loved the large kitchen and the beautiful backyard! I was able to entertain my daughter and her friends for an evening, they were very impressed! And when my son arrived, there was room for him on the pullout sofa, too.
And the location is terrific .... a short walk to the subway, easy access to anywhere in New York City, and an equally short walk to Prospect Park. I enjoyed a day spent in the Brooklyn Museum, followed by a meandering walk through the park home, and then putting my feet up to relax in my lovely flat.

My husband and I rented this wonderful apartment on NY Marathon weekend. First impression: Wow, this place is CLEAN! Next, very private and quiet. Garden level with private entrance. Glorious garden and sitting area for your use, although October/November isn't the best weather for a cookout. You are not likely to find a place in Park Slope that is better located: steps away from Prospect Park and all the restaurants and services on 7th. We are planning our next visit.
The photos do not convey the spaciousness. The size of the rooms & yard are impressive. The patio is quiet, lush & secluded.
The bed & the sleeper sofa are super comfortable. Every morning we awoke refreshed. When you are spending your hard-earned money on a vacation, that's important.
The home has everything - umbrellas, extra linens & paper products, extension cords, grill pans & even kabob skewers!. There are take-out menus & Zagat review books. They have coffee filters, coffee, tea, filtered water, cooking oil and spices. You can whip up anything with the pans & appliances provided. Laundry detergent, fabric softener, dish soap, you name it! I had no trouble with bugs, but if I did, there were "Off" towelettes.
The home is located in an affluent residential area. The homes are well maintained & the streets are tree-lined. It is a very safe area (I live in the burbs surrounded by woods and farms, and I always felt safe in the unit & when walking, day & night). My brother lives in NYC & he suggested Park Slope because it is so safe & quiet. Also, the property is like a fortress. We were able to park right out front. The subway is only 2 blocks away & there are tons of restaurants & shops nearby. The local car services were inexpensive & always arrived within 5 minutes.
The home is steps from Prospect Park (585 acres!). The park (designed by the same 2 men who did Central Park) has a botanical garden, a zoo, an Audubon center, a lake, sports fields, etc. This home is right by the Bandshell, a high-tech stage where we enjoyed music on 2 nights. They even show movies there on a massive screen.
The property managers never knocked on our door & were very respectful of our privacy. They live on the upper floors, but we never heard them. With only them living there, there weren't all sorts of people coming & going. But we are glad our paths crossed, as they are so nice. It was apparent that our comfort was their main concern.
I have used VRBO several times & I know what to look for. I hope I save you the hours I spent researching where to stay. Many properties I viewed did not have air conditioning. Some places are leasing each floor, so you don't know who is coming & going & the hours they keep. This was the only property I found that had a private entrance & a yard that was exclusively ours. I feel lucky to have found this place, but it truly comes down to good planning.
Location, location, location, 7th Street Home and Garden has it all. Only 50 metres to Prospect Park, 10 minutes easy walk to the subway, 200 metres to fabulous dining, delis and supermarkets (the small family variety) and smack bang in the middle of the wonderfully diverse demographic of Brooklyn. The location is definitely up-market, but friendly, safe, clean and very New York.
The basement apartment was a true home away from home and had every convenience one could imagine with a lovely functional kitchen, a bells and whistles laundry and a fabulous outdoor dining area with garden and visiting raccoon. Our only quibble was that on very hot nights a ceiling fan over the bed would have been appreciated.
Elaine, the upstairs manager was super friendly and welcoming and ready to help with even the most trivial inquiry.
I can't speak highly enough of 7th St Home & Garden, I'm only sorry 5 stars is the maximum I can give.
We enjoyed staying in this Lovely, clean, and well maintained 1 bdrm apt in Park Slope. It is on a quiet street across from Prospect Park and we felt safe walking all around there. It was close to many good restaurants and had a nice kitchen and a washer and dryer. We plan to return and stay there again. I was lucky to find and rent this wonderful garden apartment for a trip back to New York to see old friends in June 2012. I brought my 4 year old son with me (his first trip to NY) and the apartment was perfect for us. The garden was a true delight and unexpectedly enormous; we spent almost all our time at home out there, either in the hammock, or near the waterfall, or at the table for meals and reading and playing. My son could not have been happier.
The owners have stocked the apartment well, there was nothing that we needed that was not already there. The bed was very comfortable, the AC worked well, the WiFi was easy and glitch-free. There is an easy kitchen to cook in (with a comfy couch in it, which was really nice), and having a good gas grill outside was particularly great.
As well, the location can't be beat (I used to live in Brooklyn, and I really wanted to be back in the Slope, where we could walk all we wanted, shop on foot, or by bus on 7th Avenue, and hop on a train into the city quickly). If I had ever had an apartment like this, I never would have moved away.
Thanks to Elaine, who was extremely responsive and helpful when making the arrangements, and getting into the apartment when we arrived was seamless too. It was a wonderful stay -- I can only hope that we can return sooner rather than later.
