Hello, John and Beverly Roselli are the proud owners of Frangipani Cottage.
Beverly purchased this cottage in 2001
Guana Cay is a very special island who's full time residents make you feel welcome. We had our cottage built after vacationing through-out the Bahamas and felt most 'at home' on Guana Cay.
We have a community dock just feet from our front porch. But even though it is a shared dock your boat will probably be the only boat docked there. Don't have a boat? Use the dock for swimming, snorkling and sunbathing. Bring your fishing rod and catch snappers for dinner.
We visited a number of cays in a 22 day exploration of the Abaco area. Without any hesitancy I can say that Frangipani is the nicest of the houses that we stayed in, some costing a good deal more. My only caution is that we were not given access to laundry facilities during our four night stay.
The house is two bedroom, two bath. The interior with wood paneling is in excellent condition. Located on the shore of the Sea of Abaco; the lane leading to the property descends steeply from the main road. Although there is no beach in front of the house there is a substantive dock and the wonderful beaches of Guana are only a short ride away. A flight of stairs is climbed to reach the screened porch.
We particularly liked Grabbers (more so than Nippers) and Orchid Bay Marina. The grocery store is well stocked and pleasant to use.
As an aside, we accidentally left some important medicines at Frangipani when we returned to our own house on Green Turtle Cay. The Frangipani manager, Rita, and the staff of Sugar Shack on GTC arranged to get the medicines back to us quickly and at no cost, saving us four ferry trips and a car rental. Community spirit is impressive in the out islands.
This is the perfect rental for couples. The two bedrooms and bathrooms are identical in size and side by side so it makes it easy when you're traveling with another couple. The house is very clean and well equipped with plenty of cooking utensils and a microwave. The location is perfect - it's right on the bay with incredible views. We thoroughly enjoyed spending evenings out by the dock. The location is just a short golf cart away from everything you need including the grocery store, Nippers, Grabbers and the beach. We definitely plan to stay there again.
We had the most relaxing, wonderful trip to Guana Cay and Frangipani Cottage was the perfect place for a small family; loved the layout and amenities. We spent time on the enclosed porch, reading and drinking our morning cup of coffee, while enjoying the beautiful view; plus took advantage of the dock and bench in the evenings (when we weren't watching the sun set from Grabbers). We also snorkeled off the dock area. Location was convenient to the settlement but far enough away from the rare crowd noise (Nippers on a Sunday afternoon/evening). The island is quaint, friendly and has plenty of places to explore - both on the Atlantic and Sea side of Guana . If you enjoy running the main road has little traffic - and there are nice sections of rolling terrain; nothing too hilly but enough of a change in incline to be interesting, plus some hard packed sand paths, leading to the water if you prefer beach running/walking or just checking out the area. We took advantage of a boat rental to explore nearby islands. Elbow Cay was cute - Vernon's key lime pie a must! The inlet between Guana and Scotland Cay was gorgeous for swimming or snorkeling and worth the stop if you have a boat! We also enjoyed a snorkel trip with Dive Guana and would definitely recommend it to everyone. Troy and crew are top notch! Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The owners of Frangipani were attentive and always available for questions (their caretaker, Gina, was fantastic); made the rental transaction very easy. Although we loved trying out the different restaurants, food is expensive so I would suggest taking advantage of the kitchen facilities if staying for more than 3-4 days. We highly recommend both Great Guana Cay and Frangipani Cottage for a relaxing family vacation!
We had been talking about this trip with our travel buddies and closest friends of 37 yrs, and yes that means we are getting older but only in years; we are young at heart. Another friend that travels to Guana Cay was familiar with Frangipani and suggested it. I must say we were not disappointed in anyway. It is perfect for two couples, more than ample space, well decorated, stock with everything you need in the kitchen. The house is simple but with charm. The view from the screened porch is great, the sunsets from the dock are spectacular, the night skies are breathtaking and the sunrises from the atlantic side are wonderful. The people of he Guana are friendly and graious. When we left we were leaving friends. Gina the property manager was wonderful. Troy & Maria of Dive Guana are outstanding. Nippers and Grabbers restaurants are very good. You need to make the wild boar bar-b-q on Sundays at 12:30. I could go on and on; bottom line I have no complaints, all praises for the house, for the island and for it's people. Would we go back, absolutley.
This was our 1st visit to the Abacos and Great Guana Cay. I have always dreamed of the perfect Island vacation. I would say this was it! The Cottage was perfect for two couples. The Cottage is is nicely decorated, clean and well maintained. We loved the view from the porch and living area; all the sailboats on the Sea of Abaco. The snorkeling and the swimming off the dock was great, and it was only a short distance to the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic. We enjoyed sitting on the dock at night and looking at the stars. Everyone on the island was so friendly and helpful: Gina, Troy, Maria. We enjoyed Nippers, Grabbers, Pirates Cove, Milo's Fruit Stand, Dive Guana. This was the best vacation ever, and we hope to return to Frangipani Cottage and Great Guana Cay soon. Thanks to the owners and the property manager for making our 1st visit so easy.
As I was sitting here in SC, I came upon something that reminded me of our wonderfully relaxing vacation in your home on Great Guana Cay. That was so unlike us to plan and take a vacation within 24 hours of considering a trip. Walt had vacation time, but I do not like to fly or travel outside of the country. I guess that he figured I wouldn't have time to worry if he worked it all out rapidly! Ha! Even our children were shocked, but happy that Walt planned it, made arrangements and we traveled for the first trip by ourselves in our 29 1/2 years of marriage. Typically our children like to vacation with us, or we have some family members or friends that want to vacation with us. This was a first in many, many ways! Your home was wonderful, and we had a wonderful time. Gina and Ronald were extremely friendly and helpful and we met a lot of the local islanders. Gina told us about using the snails for bait and Walt did catch a few small fish off of the dock. We took a snorkeling trip and met a new Great Guana Cay homeowner (from Cleveland, OH) and his family and friends. (Gina came and told us about the trip and suggested that it would be a good time.) Ronald assured me that our golf cart would not run out of gas even though we explored the island and always had a smile when we passed by each other on the street. We visited Jerry many times for dinner at Pirates Cove and Tiki Bar (ice cream too!), visited with Milo, visited with Albert (and rented our golf cart from him), chatted with Michael (Nippers) and the young manager from Grabbers. We did manage to spread our tourist dollars around.
Thank you again for sharing your wonderful Great Guana Cay home with us.
