The house is located in a hamlet at the edge of the forest which means you can discover the surrounding area on foot. Depending on the season you can pick blueberries, wild raspberries and mushrooms (cepes and girolles). The region is also well known for its great trout fishing. All shops and amenities can be found in Saugues which is 9km away and roughly a 10 minute journey: supermarkets, bakers; post office, doctors etc… Farmer’s market in Saugues on Fridays and in Langeac on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
For those who enjoy country pursuits there are ramble/ hiking paths from the village (guide book available), river swimming, water sports at Monistrol, Prades or Langeac (20kms) including canoeing, rafting and kayaking; lake, pool and tennis courts at Saugues (10kms). Parc aux Bisons (Horse and cart rides) 30kms away and the Parc aux Loups in the Lozère. For those who enjoy architecture and culture/heritage the area has special cultural status and many sites to visit within a 30 km radius, in Margeride and the Allier valley : chateaux, murals… The town of Puy en Velay is 55 km away. Museums documenting the story of the Beast of Gévaudun in Saugues and Auvers. Day trips possible to the Auvergne volcano natural Park, Cantal, Sancy, Clermont-Ferrand, Vulcania even the Gorges du tarn and the Cevennes.
