Pictures tell it all! The main room faces Magens bay. The house is located in a gated community. It's very quiet, very private. All the rooms are large. The living room is 800 square feet. It is open, airy and not cluttered with a lot of furniture. It is 46 feet wide, has an 11 foot ceiling and 9 foot windows. You don't have to sit outside to enjoy the view including the sun setting which occurs right in front of the house over the bay . The kitchen is huge and has everything you could possibly need. We spend most of our time cooking on the barbeque. The veranda is 8 feet by 30 feet with a table that seats 4 and all the chairs face the view of the bay. The shower is very big. The top is only covered by mosquito screens so you can take a shower & see the stars at the same time. The property is not perfectly manicured so it doesn't look like a hotel. It's a little overgrown so you really feel like your in the tropics. It feels like home.
There is a second bedroom with 2 twin beds that can be joined to make one queen size bed (not pictured).
We have a resident chicken, 3 iguanas, parakeets, humming birds and an infinite number of birds. Simply put, 'This place is nice!'
My husband and I just returned from our stay last week at the House of Jasmine and I miss it so much already! Being very picky about cleanliness, the House of Jasmine was so neat and clean! The pictures don't do it justice. It was so spacious, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed for our stay. Having breakfast and coffee on the outdoor porch with the most amazing views was the best way to start every day. Dinner and Margaritas in the evening was quite a treat also. Equipped with AC, we didn't even need to use it. With the windows open and the fans going, the breeze was great. The bathroom and outdoor shower looked brand new. Relaxing in the hammock on the side deck was so peaceful and the view was so breathtaking I needed to pinch myself! This place was also in a perfect location for us. Quiet and secluded yet a very short ride to town with all kinds of shops and restaurants.. Battman has thought of everything for this place. All of his directions and recommendations were spot on and very detailed, leaving no question on how to get anywhere or where to go. We snorkeled at Coki Beach and swam in Magens Bay. We also ventured down to the East side of the Island to a food truck called Off The Grid for an amazing BBQ lunch with breathtaking views. Being in St. Thomas for a wedding, I am so happy that my husband and I decided to forgo the usual hotel experience and get the full island experience by staying at House of Jasmine. All that room to move around and relax and cook and drink at our leisure, the peace and quiet, the wildlife, etc. I could go on and on! My husband and I would absolutely stay in this home when we visit St. Thomas again and we would definitely recommend the House of Jasmine to friends and relatives! (As long as it's not when I'm there! )
after a winter from hell... actually, at the tail end of an extended winter from hell, we took a week at alan's home on st. thomas and it was perfect. the small public beach we love the most was a short hike down the road and some stairs, and then a vigorous wade around some rocks, our exercise at the beginning and in the middle of each day. and well worth it.
we had total privacy, nestled down the hill from the road by a short set of steps, and could relax comfortably inside and out. meals were easy with the grill and kitchen, and access to our friends across the bay an easy fast ride in the car.
thanks, alan, for sharing your home with us. you've treated us like friends who were guests from the beginning of the rental process all the way through, and i've already recommended your place to others.
This was our first time renting a home for a vacation. We were pleasantly surprised at the ease of working with this owner and found the house to be as beautiful, if not more, than the pictures. The location was perfect for our visit. We were able to relax at the house and local beach as well as explore the island, hang out with locals, enjoy great food, and local beaches. The views from the house were breath-taking. Watching the yachts come in and out of the bay were spectacular. We look forward to making a return trip.
GREAT place to stay in St. Thomas 20+ min from the airport. One of the most desirable areas to live on the island which translates to more remote and away from the tourists so you need a vehicle and adventursome spirit as the area is mountainous. We LOVED it as have done multiple Carribean vacations and are acquainted with the idiosyncracies of the islands. Outstanding sunset view, very well maintained and equipped home. Perfect for healthy, adventurous and athletic. Not recommend for handicapped, disabled. There is no easy acecess to 'walk to the beach' as you are on a mountain looking over a fantastic bay. Local Magen's beach is a mile away, costs $14 for 3 adults and a vehicle per day and well worth it. Will go back.
This was the first time my fiance' and I stayed at a villa. We usually do the resort thing with the exception of last year when we chartered a yacht out of Tortola which I also highly recommend. Our stay at Battman's villa was more than we could have imagined. It is everything represented here and more. The pictures do not convey how exquisitely beautiful the furnishings and art are right down to the tiniest detail. Battman is a caring host and makes you feel like you are friends borrowing his villa for a week rather than strangers renting from him. We felt like we moved to St. Thomas and became locals. We drove to the store, the restaurants, Magen's bay. We hunted for new beaches. We got lost, found our way, made wrong turns, made right turns, but always found our way and it was a blast. Our favorite moment was when we hiked down to the little private beach. We went there every morning. We had it all to ourselves. One morning we hit the beach there was a guy on a paddle board passing right by the shore. At first we felt like, "bummer, guess we'll have to share the beach this morning." Mr. Paddle Board nodded hello and paddled by. "Hey, isn't that Bruce Springsteen?" We wanted to shout, "Hey BOSS, COME SHARE THE BEACH WITH US!" But we didn't. We watched him paddle off towards Magen's Bay. Really cool. Thanks Battman. Great vacation!
We couldn't have been happier with our stay at our beautiful homeaway at Magen's Bay. The house was so comfortable and well maintained. I enjoyed watching the parrots and hummingbirds every morning and the stunning view of the bay. We did some sight seeing around St Thomas and St John but spent the bulk of our time at the lovely beach that was in walking distance from the house. Most of the time we either had the beach to ourselves or shared it with a few people. It was a wonderful quiet neighborhood with Udder Delight and Simply Italian in close proximity. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing restful vacation. Thank you Battman for sharing your amazing house with us it was a joy.
Five minutes from Magens Bay (one of the Top ten beaches in the world) 15 Minutes from Charlotte Amalie the downtown shopping & Historic District.
