Photos and Description of the Whitehouse vacation cottage rental
3 bedroom, 2 baths, sleeps six (two double beds, one king)

This is Vincent’s seaside cottage, a comfortable 3BR, 2BA home in a gated family compound. The home is not fancy. It is very secure and in a good neighborhood, close enough for day trips to Y.S. Waterfalls, Treasure Beach, Lover’s Leap, the Black River Safari, Bamboo Avenue and Negril Beach.

If you want peace and quiet, this is the place. The reef is about a quarter mile out, making for great snorkeling and soothing waves. You can watch the sunset, snorkel, swim and fish right from the gazebo.

Vincent can arrange a dependable driver for your excursions (if you can stand to leave) and boat rides to the reef and beyond!

There is a galley kitchen – small but functional, with gas range/oven, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and blender. If you don’t want to cook, Vincent can arrange for a nice Jamaican lady to take good care of you!

Golf: There is golf in Jamaica, but not very near to Vincent's Seaside Cottage.

  • Large master bedroom has large closet and its own bathroom with shower. The other two bedrooms are small and have no closets. The 2nd bathroom is near, but not adjacent to the two small bathrooms. All windows are screened and there are fans, but no air conditioning. You will be comfortable, because there is always a breeze and you are right by the sea.

Notes: This is the place to bring your books, snorkel gear and suntan lotion and really relax. For the evening, bring cards or dominoes or darts (there is a dart board). There is really no nightlife or fancy restaurants. You can meet the family, or wander next door to Natania's Guesthouse, or keep to yourself. You can walk up the private road (about 2 blocks distance) to the main road and grab a beer, or catch the bus into Whitehouse to go to the market (or beyond), but you literally do not have to leave the yard if you don't want to. Vincent can arrange to get all your food, beverages and other supplies for you.

The perfect anti-resort getaway

This was our third visit to this property. We'd done "resort Jamaica", and as much as we enjoyed that, we wanted something different. We wanted o fel like we'd been to the "real" J. This was it! Great location for snorkeling, just a few steps down from the patio to the sea, then a nice swim out to the reef. We spent every morning out there--lots of fish big and small, big rays, and even sea turtles. Good privacy. Vincent is a hoot! We love taking the bus into town and taking an occasional excursion with Vincent's driver, Fugi. Not to mention the value! This kind of vacation is not for everyone; you won't be pampered and there is none of the resort luxury; resort nightlife and activities are not here, either. But at least for us, we'll take Vincent's house.
