EXCELLENT Unit, Wonderful Owner Communication, GREAT Complex
Everything about our stay at this unit in Kihei Bay Surf was better than we'd hoped. The studio itself was bigger than it appeared in the photos. It was very well-equipped, we wanted for nothing. I cooked every night and found all the cookware I needed. Never used the dishwasher but, there was one. We used the poolside BBQs a few times as well. For our packed lunches (yes, we were doing a budget Maui trip which suited us perfectly), Aaron had thoughtfully provided not one but two coolers. Plenty of towels (beach and bath). Beach and pool stuff. Nothing overlooked. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. Our daughter used the pull-out sofa and was very happy with it, unlike many she's slept on before when travelling with us! It was an easy day/night transformation from bedroom to living room.
I really enjoyed watching DD and DH playing tennis from our lanai. There is a partial ocean view over the tennis courts, in the near distance but, who needs an ocean view when the perfect little beach is just steps away, across the street? We don't. Not at the cost of an additional $100-$200 per night anyway. The entire complex is very well-mainted. It's extremely attractive. I
t's not just the buildings that make for a great stay though, it's the people and the people here are wonderful. It seems to be about 50/50 owner occupied and rentals (short and long-term? not quite sure). The day we arrived they were having a St. Patrick's Day pot-luck pool party and the day we left it was an Easter Sunday was another pool pot-luck. A few days into our trip, when a resident saw DD's sunburn, a bottle of aloe vera gel was presented as a gift, to help her deal with it. We spent our evenings enjoying DVD's, loaned to us by another neighbour. We benefitted from beer and groceries, offered to us by departing vacationers. When a guest saw my husband hitting tennis balls agains the court wall, he asked for a game. It's just that kind of place. Nice people, nice surroundings.
I know that, by it's nature, each rental unit will have it's own owner and will deserve it's own review but, I can say without hesitation that as a complex, Kihei Bay Surf is a great one for travellers like us who are looking for a clean, attractive, well-located and friendly place to base ourselves for Island exploration. This unit itself is owned by people who clearly really care about your holiday enjoyment and have decorated and outfitted their unit accordingly. Well done, Aaron et al! Thank you.
