I had an absolutely beautiful time at Villa Marjorie. It is Gods little treasure in Exuma. My favourite part was the swing in the tree and picking grapes in the garden each day.
The water was warm and inviting. I am sad to go but delighted by the idea of returning very soon.
By the way I wish I could pack the bed and pillows and take them home with me. I LOVE THIS PLACE.....
We enjoyed our stay at villa Marjorie. The house is right in the middle of the island . Right on the beach , close to stores and restaurants . A very nice beach , calm and clear . House had all the amenities we needed. Washer and dryer were a great plus .
This house is exactly as shown in the pictures and more. We had a great peaceful stay the house met all our needs. Would recommend and would stay again.
We loved our stay at Villa Marjorie. It's on a beautiful stretch of beach and the house is amazing. The house is setup very well and easily accommodated the 4 of us. There were some floaties, a tube, and a cooler, which was great.
I highly recommend renting a vehicle, and if you like exploring as much as possible, get a 4wd SUV or Jeep. A trip to the Bahama Sound side of the island is a must. We didn't find out until the last day that the road is up by Sandals. It's a long, slow drive, but don't give up. Tropic of Cancer Beach is also really spectacular.
It was really windy during our stay, so the surf was too rough to do any snorkeling or under water exploring near the house. We did a half day with Coastline Adventures and never looked back. Captain Bob and crew were awesome!
We had the pleasure of staying at Villa Marjorie for a month in January 2014. It was everything we had hoped it would be. When we arrived at the airport Cynthia was there to meet us and let us into the villa. She also gave pointers on getting our groceries in George Town plus showing us where to shop.
The ship from Miami comes in on Mondays with fresh produce and meat, Stocks can dwindle quickly so shop early in the afternoon.
There are several good restaurants worth visiting. Tripadvisor has up to date reviews with directions to find them. Stocking Island is worth a visit and stop in at the Chat n' Chill. Tropic of Cancer Beach is a very pretty beach on Little Exuma. Check the access using Google Earth. While you are there stop by Mom's Bakery and try her fresh rum cake. Santana's Bar and Grill is next door and a great place for lunch.
Take a half day boat trip out of Rolleville at the northwest end of the island and go swimming with the pigs! If you are a golfer, book a round at the course at Sandals. The back nine are amazing! Best of all is the peace and quiet at the cottage.
Whether you want to relax with a book on a lounge or go for a walk on the beach, this is paradise! The cottage is so comfortable and well appointed. The king-sized beds are very comfortable and with the patio doors open and a gentle breeze you drift off to sleep to the sound of the waves rolling up the beach. You will need a car to shop in town and explore the island. We rented from Don's Car Rental and found the Kia Rio to be all we needed.
Driving on the left in a left hand drive car required extra attention but quickly seemed normal. The wireless internet worked well and the internet phone system provided free calling across North America.
We found Villa Marjorie to be an excellent choice and Exuma to be about as close to paradise as you will get in this lifetime! Lastly, Jen was a pleasure to work with and was only a phone call or email away if you have any questions.
We learned of Exuma through my brother going to the Sandals. We are not Sandals people,(have tried them), and wanted to rent a house. Of course we were a little concerned as this was our first time. Well Jena, the owner of the house, has converted us. After are initial contact through Homeaway, Jena made sure we knew how the process worked, what to expect, and even offered us suggestions on things to do, etc. We did book a car(airport car rental) and a tour she recommended (coastline adventures and loved it). She was in contact with us throughout are booking and stay.
As for the house and beach, the pictures are exactly what you get. Beautiful and well kept, inside and out. The details and appointments of this house show Jena truly cares about it and her guests.
Upon landing in Exuma, the villa marjorie rep. meet us at the airport, we walked over to the car rental and then followed her to the house. Easy drive, 2 lane road, about 10 mins from airport. She gave us a tour and instructions on the workings of the house. The house is amongst a row of similar beach houses. All spaced out nicely with green lush giving some privacy. Many of these were not occupied, but we did meet a nice couple and their toddler a couple houses down who have been visiting for the past 4 years.
We hope to return next year and have some friends who we convinced to go to villa marjorie in Sept. We highly recommend this house.
Jena's home was everything we could have imagined. Centrally located, well-appointed and full of nice touches. She was a very gracious hostess, and we cant wait to return to this beautiful home. Thanks, Jena!
