The Bungalow is an attractively furnished, one storey, stone house located only 100m from the main beach of Stoupa. It is situated in a 1900 sq. meter garden, together with Villa Sofia, thus affording quiet and privacy while in the center of the village. The Bungalow has a spacious living room with a charming fire place, 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a covered veranda off the kitchen. There is a beautifully laid flagstone patio on 2 sides of the house towards the south and west. Because it is very private, it is ideal for alfresco dining, as well as offering a safe play area for children. The house has been built in the local style using stone walls and a tile roof. It has a very nice, cosy atmosphere. The Bungalow is also available for long term rental from October through April. SPECIAL NOTE: For sailors, a sun fish sailboat is available for use.

Stoupa is a coastal village in the unspoiled Mani region. The village is built around three bays, two of which have sand beaches that are among the most beautiful on the Mani Peninsula. They are well suited for families because of the shallow waters near the shore. The third bay has a pebble beach, and is ideal for snorkeling. The village is set amongst olive groves with the Taygetos Mountains rising to the east. The climate is mild in winter, possibly the warmest in continental Europe. Stoupa is within easy reach of a 24 hour medical centre (2 km), and one hour from the major city of Kalamata.

  • BOOKING INFORMATION: Price is fully inclusive of all services. A deposit of 25% is due upon booking. The remainder is due 4 weeks before arrival. There is an end of visit cleaning charge of 45 euro. Ask us for special rates for longer term rental and/or over wintering.
  • For any booking of 2 weeks or more made between now and March 31, 2009, we will offer a 15% reduction on the total cost. After April 1, we will offer a 10% reduction for any booking of 2 weeks or more.

Notes: The Bungalow was built in the local Mani style, using stone, wooden ceilings, and a tile roof. The walls are 50cm thick, which helps to keep it warm in winter and cooler in summer. It is tastefully furnished and gives one the feeling of home. Although it is in the center of the village and very close to the main beach, it is very private and quiet. It is built at the rear end of a 2000 sq. m. garden and faces an empty plot. It is surrounded by shade trees, mostly mulberry. There is a beautiful flagstone patiio that covers 2 sides of the house. This area offers a private spot for dining, and is perfect as a play area for small children. There is outdoor furniture, including 2 sunbeds, plus a small grill and plenty of beach toys for small children. Parking is available right next to the house. This house is very well suited for off season holidays and/or over wintering.

STOUPA VILLAGE: Stoupa is a very well known family vacation destination. The Bungalow is located approximately 100 m from the main sandy beach of Stoupa. The village is built around three bays. Two of the beaches have very fine sand and are child friendly due to the shallow waters along the shoreline. The third beach, Halikora, has small pebbles and is an ideal place for snorkeling. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available for rental. Just off the beaches, there are some cafes that offer cold drinks and light meals for lunch. Kayaks and pedaloes can be rented from either Stoupa or Kalogria beach. Small motorboats are also available for rental from Stoupa beach. Because Stoupa is a small village, everything is within an easy walk. Tavernas, fine gift shops, a phsrmscy, supermarket and sundry rental shop are all in the village. For more adventurous souls, cars, motor scooters, and 'buggys' can also be rented.

EXCURSIONS: Stoupa is in the middle of a very beautiful area. Along the coast there are several other charming villages to visit (Kardimili, Agios Nikolaos, Agios Dimitrios, and Trachila). Each is unique and all are well worth a visit. There is a paved path along the coastline between Stoupa and Agios Nikolaos. It is specifically designated for either pedestrian or bicycle use, and is about 2 km in length. It offers wonderful sea views from one side and a mountain background on the other. In a distance from 4 - 18 km from Stoupa, there are lovely mountain villages to explore that take you back in time to 50 or more years ago. Most of them have a small taverna or two where you can stop and enjoy dishes prepared with local products. There are two separate loops that can be driven. Each of them passes through several villages and you can take anywhere from one hour to all day to complete your journey.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: The area is rich in wild flowers almost all year round. There are day boat excursions offered in season. They go to various places in the Messinian Bay, including the famous caves of Pirgos Dirou. During the spring and autumn, there are various interesting walks in the area. There are local books available that describe the most popular walks. In Kardimili, there is a mountaineering shop that offers guided mountain tours and bicycle tours.

An excellent place to stay

We have stayed at this property on two previous occasions and have booked for a third as four adults, two of which are elderly.
The bungalow is in an excellent position, central to the village, but set back from the main street. The supermarkets, beach and restaurants are all within easy walking distance.
There is off-road parking adjacent to the property.
The owners are very friendly and helpful, equiping the bungalow with every need for the traveller and holidaymaker from washing machine and iron to TV, microwave, fridge/freezer, indoor games and books.
There are several private seating areas on the property, to be used at any time of day or night depending on whether you need sun or shade.
We look forward to our visit to Stoupa, safe in the knowledge that we are staying in such a fantastic place.

Perfect position bungalow in Stoupa

My wife and I, along with my brother and his wife, stayed in this beautiful stone bungalow in Stoupa. It is in the grounds of the owners larger house, but is not overlooked and has its own large terrace and smaller corner terrace which are very private and have an airy, spacious feel with lots of attractive trees, cacti and flowers around. The bungalow is well equipped with everything for cooking, lots of books to read, sat tv, and provides a comfortable homely feel. The owners Takis and Tracey were extremely friendly and helpful, but did not impose at all. The bungalow lies just behind the sea front buildings right in the centre if Stoupa bay so it is a perfect position for a stroll to the beach, restaurants and shops, or a walk further afield into the hillsides. There is a bus service to other towns along the coast, but Kalogria beach is only a short walk away and Aghios Nikolaos within 20 minutes along an easy coastal path. We would definitely recommend the bungalow to those looking for a quiet home from home but in the perfect position.
