Thanks Jean and Nat. for a brilliant/relaxing stay.
The advert was 100% accurate. The villa contained everything we needed.
The property/grounds were 110% clean (as a guest house owner we are keen inspectors?).
Jean, the owner and operator, was on hand daily.
The villa is very peaceful and your stay cannot be spoilt by noisy neighbours/passers by.
We would recommend to every group. Excellent for surfers as Jean surfs daily - 10 min drive to the best sites.
The house is well furnished with a very interesting theme – Bali.
We toured 1500k whilst there and I have to say Lajares is the best site on the island (unless you want to get out of bed and step onto the beach).
A good supermarket - not a mini macardo, was only 800m away and kept long hrs.
We travel for landscapes and food and for this Lajares was a perfect base.7 restaurants and 2 bakeries are within walking dist. all excellent and most have a different speciality. We preferred the bread from the French bakery. We had several three hour lunches and the cost with, bottle(s) of house wine, starters, mains, puds, coffee, liqueurs for three was between 40 and 70 Euro.
Please note on Fuerteventura at proper Canarian eateries tapas/starters are as big as our main courses. We liked Cafe Cancela in that we could just have a drink or order one main course and three forks and then if still hungry order a second and possibly a third main course - yes the portions are that big. A big thanks to Paul who made us really welcome. Canella pizza was brilliant for pizza - booking recommended. Piratis was great for Calamari’s and had the best house wine.
Within a 15 drive are some wonderful restaurants, El Marcos is perhaps the best Tapas restaurant in the whole of Spain, El Horno provided great fine dining and proper fried bay squid, Monah rest. served the best main course (fish in sauce) of our stay and has great grounds – it was our favourite, we regularly stopped at el Cuesta for tapas lunch cooked to order. Here I had the best tapas of the holiday, deep fried Moray eel (and of course as it is not a tourist rest we paid local prices, similarly at La Calderata. Le Long is a brilliant fish restaunt and I can recommend The Old Ropes soup/stew. Natural is another great place for coffee.
Finally do pay a visit to Happy Plants, take your camera. It is bigger than many gardens that we have visited – none of it is visible from the road.
Owner's Response: thanks Ian !!
