Ours is a charming historic private waterfront home in a lovely quiet neighborhood. Guests have total privacy, but my husband and I live on the premises, providing enhanced security and happily meeting whatever needs might arise for our guests! Enter through a luxurious garden filled with fruit trees, tropicals, and orchids. Filled with art and antiques and light, both second story studios catch our fresh ocean breezes. OUR CALENDAR CAN ONLY REFLECT BOOKINGS FOR ONE OF THESE ACCOMMODATIONS, SO PLEASE ALWAYS CHECK WITH US DIRECTLY FOR AVAILABILITY. In Tarasita Cottage, our pet guest unit, the spacious high ceilinged main room has more windows than walls, and a full kitchen, full bath, and walk-in closet. The roof deck, with comfortable chairs and umbrellas, is perfect for reading and relaxing outside. Taralago Suite is very similar except that it is not available for pet guests, and it does not have a full size stove/oven, but a convection toaster oven, microwave, electric cooktop, and outdoor charcoal grill. It is suitable for light cooking. It does have a large private deck overlooking the Intracoastal/Lake Worth. This is a wonderful retreat place, but still close to everything! Walking and biking are popular in the neighborhood and one can do either to reach downtown amenities or the beach. We have bicycles and golf clubs for our guests. Kayak off our private beach. Watch osprey, kingfishers, pelicans, parrots, and wading birds. Downtown Lake Worth is eight blocks away and is filled with charming shops and restaurants, plus the Bamboo Room (a world class blues club). Many of the cafes have outdoor tables and are dog friendly!
Lake Worth beach has a great open air restaurant bar and a gorgeous new pier for fishing or just ogling the beach goers. Lou, from New York City, is a theatre producer and director, and Kathleen, from Monroe, Louisiana is a visual artist and writer. We love our pets, friends, good books, good food and wine, and our gorgeous home in Lake Worth!
Kathleen Holmes purchased this studio in 2010
We have lived in Lake Worth for over 20 years, and finally were able to get a 1924 fixer upper on the water. As with houses of this vintage, the renovation is never really done, but we love the process. The garden has been especially rewarding to create - it's becoming a tropical paradise. Sunrises and moon rises over the lake are a lovely reward for all the hard work!
For probably 350 days of the year we are blessed with breezes right off the Atlantic Ocean, so even in summer, there is usually a cool breeze, especially in the evening.
I arrived around 1am in the morning (after a very long flight) to this beautiful oasis of calm and luxury. It was even more beautiful than the pictures....everything I needed was at my fingertips..so many thoughtful touches, luxurious linens, first class everything! And don't get me started on all the beautiful artwork and creative touches that are sprinkled everywhere throughout this gorgeous home away from home. Kathleen & Lou are without a doubt two of the most generous and beautiful people you will ever meet. They anticipated my every need and were responsive to any request I made. Look no further....the spectacular sunrises, the pool, the lake, the dock and the lush gardens that surround this place.....I still miss it! thanks kathleen and louie.
Beautiful. Tranquil. Relaxing.
My husband and I stayed in the Taralago for 4 nights and fell in love with the rental. The details of the rental and all the reviews are completely accurate and the unit was clean and cozy. You immediately feel comfortable and at home! Kathleen knew we were getting in extremely late and had cookies waiting for us to snack on before bed. COOKIES! Such a thoughtful thing to do!
We visited the area to scuba dive Blue Heron Bridge which is 25 minutes to the north. There was plenty of room for our gear to dry. There was a nice pool to relax and cool off.
Kathleen and Lou were such great hosts and all their 4 legged staff were so friendly and playful. We have been looking for a great place to stay in Florida and we have now found it! Our next stay is already booked!
As a native of this area, I knew that this location would be great. What I could not have anticipated is how wonderful the hosts would be. When I arrived, Kathleen walked me around their beautiful property and made me feel home immediately. This property included a wonderful pool, beautiful gardens, a waterfront view, and a lovely dock that sat out on the water with comfortable rocking chairs.
Even more, because the owners are quite artistic it was an absolutely breath-taking home. Everywhere I looked, there were special touches of love and care to make the home feel extra special.
If you have a dog, or two, I can assure you that they will make you feel right at home. If you do not have dogs, you would love this place as well. I can tell you that because I did not really see their dogs until they knew that I was comfortable with them as well as with them playing with my dog. Once they all got along, it was like my dog had a daycamp every day being taken care of while I enjoyed my vacation.
I actually asked both of them if it would be okay for me to come and stay with them while I look for a home because I am considering moving back. Staying with them in the heart of a beautiful town has reminded me of how wonderful it is to be a Florida native. I cannot say enough about this location.
If you love to be on the water, surrounded by a lush garden, and enjoy beautiful artwork in your living space… This is the only place for you.
Stayed at Taralago for 7 nights and were totally impressed with everything it had to offer:
Lovely hosts Kathleen and Lou - They made us feel so welcome, and offered their help and advise if or when it was required but also left us to enjoy our place at our own pace. They have got that balance just right.
Lovely setting - Fantastic views of the inter coastal. Within a quiet street, and it really was quiet, just what we were hoping for.
Great facilities - The apartment had everything you could wish for for a week away. Clean and spacious. It had a lovely homely feel to it with individual touches from Kathleen and Lou to help you feel at home (welcome cookies were lovely!)
Home from home company - Thanks to the cats Ronnie Bruce and Lizzy, we felt so at home, with Ronnie welcoming us each morning with a friendly hello. Also thanks to Oliver and co. who liked to come out and say hi whenever we were going to relax on the dock.
All in all Taralago is THE perfect place to stay, in THE perfect setting. With fantastic views, lovely hosts and unforgettable memories, we couldn't have wished for a more perfect vacation rental. We will definitely return, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to others.

We had a great time staying at Taralago. The accommodations were very nice. The location was great with a beautiful view of the intercostal. Sitting out on the dock watching the boats go by was great. Our hosts couldn't have been any nicer, Louie even brought us drinks each afternoon. We will definitely be back! I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a very relaxing vacation.
The property was well maintained. Our room was impecably cleanThe welcome from Kathleen was very warm and we enjoyed our conversations with her and her husband Lou..Every thing we enjoy was provided even the bicycles. We had a couch and table and chairs to sit on and relax to enjoy the view of the pool and the intracoastal with the fish jumping out of the water. We have already recommend this property to many of our friends and relatives. My husbands sister lives in Boca and she came to visit us and now she wants to stay here for her anniversary in July.We enjoyed many good meals recommended by the owners and also went to nearby Lantana to the Old Key Lime House over looking the intracoastal for a great lunch and bought pastries from the bakery there also.We will be back to stay there shortly as we just bought a home on Lake Worth. The most fun for us was meeting and talking with all the interesting people that live there.
Lake Worth is a charming old resort town on the Intracoastal Waterway and one bridge away from the Atlantic Ocean beach. Downtown Lake Worth is filled with small locally owned bars, restaurants with indoor and outdoor dining, antique and other shops, live music, outdoor festivals, and a municipal golf course. There is a Starbucks. Ours is a quiet pedestrian and bike friendly neighborhood with constant tropical breezes. The intracoastal / lake is a mile wide here; at night, the lights from the buildings across the way make for as lovely a vista as there is during the day. Wading birds, pelicans, and the occasional manatee add to the natural beauty.
