'Le Marais,' which means 'the marsh, bog or swamp!!” is the heart of historical Paris. It sits between the Pompidou Centre to the southwest, and almost as far north as Republique. You'll find the Picasso Museum on its eastern edge and the Seine at the southern border. (These areas are all within 10 minutes walking distance.) Most of this now protected district was built in the 16th and 17th centuries. It is one of the most fashionable districts, and one of the most expensive to live in too. Full of museums and beautiful buildings and mansions, the quarter is lively thanks to countless bars; cafes and restaurants open all year long. It is in this quarter that you can stroll down the beautiful quaint streets seven days a week. This area is also still a major centre of the Paris Jewish community where delis and bakeries sell kosher food and fallafels. Just nearby is the rue des Francs Bourgeois possibly one of the most famous streets in the ' Marais’ and the heart and essence of the quartier. The atmosphere most probably the most unique in all of Paris.
Perfectly located close to the famous 'Marché des Enfants ' where the locals do their shopping and where you can buy gourmet food at reasonable prices.
The famous “Notre Dame' situated on an island on the river Seine is a mere 15 minutes away on foot and can be seen from the end of the street. Metro connections are in abundance with the nearest being only 150 yards away.
