Inchicore and Kilmainham are two of Dublin's most historic districts, and feature in many prominent episodes in Irish history. Inchicore is bounded on its western side by the Grand Canal, an 18th century mode of transport, as well as the Luas, Dublin's 21st century tram system which opened in 2004.Between Inchicore and Phoenix Park is the Irish National War Memorial Gardens, which was built to commemorate those Irish soldiers who died in World War I.Kilmainham Jail was the scene of the execution of many Irish Republican Army leaders captured after the Easter Rising in 1916. Opposite the jail is The Royal Hospital Kilmainham, now home to Irish Museum of Modern Art, built in 1684 as a home for retired soldiers. Based on Les Invalides in Paris, the building consists of four unbroken ranges enclosing a courtyard. Previously the site of a Church in the 7th century. Brian Boru assembled his army at Kilmainham prior to the Battle of Clontarf. VisitDrimnagh Castle, only a 5 minute drive away

WOW, This place is the BEST! Tjm Bremerton, Washington, USA. Date Submitted: May 05, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008 My 2 best friends and myself went to Dublin to celebrate our 50th Birthday's together. Choosing this apartment was a GREAT experience from the first email I sent to enquire about it. Grainne answered all my emails almost as fast as I could write them, and gave us wonderful ideas when planning our trip. She arranged for us to be fetched from the airport when we arrived. We were so taken back when the door was opened, each and every room was so beautifully decorated. We had a bottle of champagne waiting for us along with fresh bread and flowers. On the coffee table was a notebook full of information with everything from transportation(with the bus number), to local pubs. The location was perfect for us. We came and went at all times of day and night and always felt our apartment was secure. The luas (red line tram) was a 5 minute walk.

it is only minutes from Guinness Brewery, Phoenix Park, Memorial Park, Jamestown Distillery, and Drimnagh Castle and James Hosptial. Dublin Castle, Christchurch Cathedral, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Museum of Natural History, Temple Bar and Trinity College are all a short hop away on the Luas Tram. The Luas stop is 5 mins from the apartment and Heuston train station is 10 minutes. Situated on the main N7 route to the city centre, it is close to M50 and N4 allowing easy access to the surrounding countryside. There is an abundance of golf courses surrounding with City West, Hermitage very close. The K Club, where the Ryder Cup was played in 2007 is a 35 minute drive, Carton Golf and country club is also 30 mins. The designer outlet centre in Kildare town is a 40 min drive or train journey away. Surrounding race courses such as Punchestown, The Curragh, Fairyhouse and Leopardstown are all within easy reach. Castletown House in Celbridge is also 30 mins drive.

Dublin City Bus',which services downtown Dublin, stops outside the door . This route will take you via James’s St where Guinness Brewery is located, onto High St. where you can experience” Dublina” and the Viking world, visit Christchurch and St. Patrick’s Cathedral’s or continue on to Dame St. where you can visit Dublin Castle, the Gaiety Theatre, Trinity College, Temple Bar and Grafton St. There are a wealth of restaurants on Dame St. and just off it, on George’s St. This bus journey can take approx 10/15 minutes depending on traffic and time of day. We are also on the Luas (tram) red line with the nearest stop a 4/5 minute walk. The Luas will bring you to Heuston Station and Connolly Station (Dublin’s main train stations), presenting the opportunity for a day trip to Cork, Galway or Belfast. The Luas also stops at the National Museum of Decorative Arts, the Jamestown Distillery and of course into Abbey St. which is adjacent to O'Connell St.

Great Apartment in Great Location

Slainte Cork, Ireland
Review Submitted: September 10, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Loved this apartment on our recent visit to Dublin. Fabulous decor, spotlessly clean, well equipped and a very convenient location. Great transport facilities with bus and Luas tram and not too expensive the odd night we got a taxi home. Approx 10 minutes from downtown Dublin. Great information pack provided and our queries were dealt with promptly and graciously. Would definitely recommend this apartment and hope we will return.

Sparkling clean, but too noisy for us

Highland8 Barrie, Ontario, Canada
Review Submitted: August 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The apartment is newly renovated, spacious and very clean, as the website description states. What we did not realize is that it is on a very busy and noisy street. That you can adjust to, but the toddler running around in the apartment upstairs was too much at 6:30 am and all day long.
Grainne was a perfect host with email and tourist communications. Great location for getting around Dublin without a car. Parking is available (very tight space), but we appreciated being able to park on the property and not on the street.
Owner's Response: We appreciate your comments re; your recent stay, as it is constructive criticism such as this, that enables us to improve our apartment to provide a better level of comfort for our guests. We have engaged a contractor to sound proof the apartment to eliminate this problem and would like to thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Home away from Home

Gaelic Coffee London
Review Submitted: June 6, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
My family and I very much enjoyed our recent stay in Tigh Tirconaill and would like to compliment Grainne most sincerely for the very high standard of accommodation and attention to detail she provides. The apartment itself is quite large with high ceilings and spacious rooms and is situated on the ground floor of a period house. We certainly were not tripping over each other even though there were 5 in our party. It is on a nice street with a row of red brick houses and lined with trees. The decor was superb and equal to any top hotel. It was spotlessly clean & comfortable and we really felt “at home” there. Enjoyed a morning stroll in the grounds of the Church next door and had a lovely walk by the canal one evening where the children had great fun feeding the swans.
The location was great with fantastic transport links to the town centre and Heuston station. We had the choice using Leo,(who provides an in house cab service), public busses which stop outside the door or the Luas which stops down the street. The bus took about 10 minutes to reach town and we visited Guinness Hops, ChristChurch Cathedral, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Dublin Castle. We enjoyed a couple of lovely days at the Phoenix Park ,and used the shuttle bus to visit Farmleigh House and Dublin Zoo which was a real treat for the children. Also Kilmainham Jail, a short walk from the apartment was very interesting and quite moving. The Museum of Modern Irish art across the road is a beautiful building and Temple Bar was lively and full of little restaurants and cafes.
I would highly recommend this apartment for anyone wishing to have a real vacation experience in Dublin city and we came away feeling that we had lived a little bit of life in Dublin. We will certainly return to Tigh Tirconaill again and will recommend it to any of our friends planning a trip to Dublin.

victorian elegance near city centre

Dee's Co. Kildare
Review Submitted: May 19, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My friends and I were attending a show in Dublin recently and priced hotel accommodation for the night. As this was turning out quite expensive we decided to look at self catering accommodation instead. The BEST DECISION ever. We had a couple of days shopping and took in a show as well. We had our own personal taxi driver (which Grainne arranged), to drive us anywhere we wanted to go. he lives at the back of the house. We also got the bus (literally outside the front door) into town which only took 5/10mins. the apartment was elegant and spotlessly clean. champagne and a welcome pack awaited us on arrival. The decor was obviously professionaly done. I found it a very economical way to stay in town as the cost was shared out between us (it sleeps 5). furniture, including beds were all new and beds were dressed in lovely white crisp eygiptan cotton bedclothes. I totally recommend this to anyone thinking of overnighting it in Dublin and I intend to take a family break in this apartment during the summer. Thanks to Grainne and Tim for a wonderful experience. Dee

Tigh Triconnail Self Catering Apt.

Boston Irish Milton, Massachusetts, USA
Review Submitted: December 9, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
This apartment was all that was advertised and more! We had a wonderful stay in the clean and roomy apartment with 2 adults, a young adult and a teenager. The location is close to the M50 for access to all of Ireland by car, and a quick walk to the luas for a ride into the heart of Dublin. The neighborhood was quaint with a few steps out the door to grocery store and butcher (who very kindly ordered us a turkey so we could celebrate our "American thanksgiving". Our welcome that Grainne provided including bread, butter, milk and tea as well as all the information about the apartment and surrounding was also very helpful. The Inn down the street provided delicious food for those nights we didnt want to cook in. We would recommend this apartment to anyone.
