About Michael Aumiller

Mike Aumiller is an Electrical Technician who can fix anything but a broken heart and the crack of dawn. Karen Aumiller is a Nurse of greater than 25 years. We've been married 26 years this year. We love family, friends, animals and farming! Nothing like growing your own food and cooking a great meal for the ones you love. We love hosting Weddings and Receptions in the Barn. Having couples start their married lives with us is wonderful. We love working with them and their families planning their special day. Once the Wedding takes place and everything comes together it's perfect!

Michael Aumiller purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Michael Aumiller chose Yadkinville

We purchased Winding Creek Farm for a retirement home. Our dream is to build a family centered farm where folks can come to pick their own or stop by our farm store and purchase fresh vegs., fruits, nuts, jams and eggs. We want to feature local honey and crafts as well.

The local area is rich in agriculture and history. The Yadkin Valley is now the 2nd largest wine producer in USA. The local Amish add charm and a unique since of community.

In 2011 we hosted a Wedding Reception on the property and fell in love with the concept of a Wedding Barn Venue. In 2012 we opened our Wedding Barn and Reception Area. We hosted 11 Weddings in the Fall of 2012 and what a great time! In November 2014 we hosted our 100th Wedding! Having a relaxed beautiful wedding with family and friends. I don't know who has more fun the folks having the Wedding or Mike, Leroy, Dale, Sandi, Gray and Casey. The Barn area has been decorated with Mason Jar Lights, Grapevine and white lights, Tables and Log Benches that seat 150 are onsite. More guest can be accommodated if needed. We are so excited our barn area as well as 1900's stone wall/ old barn foundation area are being landscaped to serve as outdoor wedding locations. Who knew offering folks a Beautiful Place for Their Wedding, Reception and Rehearsal dinner at a fair price would go over so well!

What makes this cabin unique

Barn Wedding and Reception Area Set up to seat 150 more seating available. You can have your Wedding, Rehearsal Dinner and Reception onsite. Elopement Wedding Specials with Cake and Punch Reception up to 50 Guest.

The town of Yadkinville has recently opened an Arts and Crafts area where you can shop, eat or enjoy a glass of wine and unwind. In the fall The Yadkinville Grape Festival & Harvest Festival are great fun for the whole family. As is the Pumpkin Festival held yearly in Elkin. We are members of the Yadkin County Chamber of Commerce and we encourage you to stop by! Nearby Shiloh Amish Store offers meats, cheeses, breads and other one of a kind items. Nothing like one of Shiloh’s sandwiches on fresh bread. But, if you want one you have to go before 3pm. Harmony one of our other neighbors is the location of Fiddlers Grove and The famous Cook Shack. While on the subject of music we are just off 421 and I-77. I must also mention all the local places to buy antiques. Union Grove has on old school house (Union Grove Mulch and More) that offers antiques, Case knives and one-of-a-kind gifts. If you have any energy after enjoying all the local shops, wineries, and eateries then Stone Mountain or any of the many Parks and Historic Areas are yours to explore.

Bess-Davis Wedding 2013

My mom found this listing while looking for vacation spots for our family! I was completely skeptical at first but the minute I stepped out of the car I knew it was the perfect! Keep I mind when we booked the first wedding on site had not taken place! We booked immediately and got to enjoy watching the venue transform over the course of the year before our big day! My location to take bridal portraits fell through 3 days before and I emailed Karen. She was so happy and excited for me to have me come up and have pictures made! I climbed an aluminum ladder into the loft as the staircase wasn't built yet. She let myself and wedding planner come by multiple times to look over the additions being made! She and Mike were always prompt in returning calls and emails to answer questions or requests that came up! They even put up a surprise for my husband in the men's bathroom outside! (Look for the wedding dress in turnout gear! That's me!) The rehearsal dinner was perfect and all my bridesmaids and I had a huge sleepover in the cabin that night! That was probably the best decision I ever made! The day of the wedding Karen was sick but assured me we would have plenty of help! It poured down rain, but we had set up a tent between the barn and house. Luckily, by the grace of God it stopped raining long enough to have the ceremony out from under the tent and as we said "I do" the rain sent us running for the tent! We ended up with a double rainbow (our pictures were amazing). My husband and I left out but my parents rented the cabin for the night. When they got up the next morning the staff had cleaned up and separated our decorations from theirs. All they had to do was load up and leave! It couldn't have been a better experience rain and all! We have continued to keep in touch with them and I truly feel like they are part of our family! Winding Creek is truly an amazing place and the staff does their very best accommodate every brides wishes to a T!

From the first time we saw this venue and met Karen and Mike we knew this was the perfect place to get married. We booked immediately even though it was going to be well over a year before saying " I do" . We chose the backyard for the ceremony It's nice and shady in evening . Followed by dinner and dancing at the barn . The lights are gorgeous at night ! We were very blessed to have seen the full moon rise :)

Karen and Mike were awesome ... They were there for us from beginning to end ! It was a fairy tale come true !! Thank you both so much !! It's a perfect setting for a country wedding ;)

I’m so sorry I'm so late on this! Our wedding was in November of 2013 and we couldn't have been happier with how everything went. Both Karen and Mike were wonderful! I felt bad because I felt that either my mother or myself called Karen one too many times but she was as easy going and willing to help with just about anything, she even gave great ideas with both the ceremony and reception. Mike was precious, he had that camera in hand the entire time and I must say he got some pretty good pictures.

Most of the feedback of our wedding was how beautiful and how they had the most fun at our wedding or rated best wedding they have been to. That is a huge compliment and I don't think that was us, I think that had a lot to do with the atmosphere provided. I loved how we had the opportunity to borrow decorations for what we were lacking and I was more than happy to leave behind our decorations being that I didn't have use for them but all the time and effort that we put into everything, someone else got to enjoy.

It is such a beautiful place. We had left some things dear to us behind and Karen was sweet enough to put them aside for me to pick up, I thought that was really kind. I will forever remember that place; they gave me the opportunity to have my dream wedding. It is truly a beautiful place and it was only half the price of other places that I checked on with more options of areas to have your ceremony, I would recommend Winding Creek Farm to just about anyone and if you are on the market for a venue, I would recommend at least going to check this place do not do the place justice.

Perfect Wedding Venue

  • 5 of 5

My daughter was recently married at Winding Creek and from the very first time we visited and had contact with the owners we were sure this was the place. There was an immediate feeling of warmth and hospitality that made us feel welcome. We never felt rushed to make a decision and everything was excactly as the website advertised.

The property was cleaned and very well maintained and the owners were very generous with wedding items that could be used at no extra cost. The price for the house and the wedding barn was extremely reasonable compared to other venues we had visited. Nothing even came close to Winding Creek in terms of getting bang for your buck.

I think most importantly the owners know how to treat people and were very generous with their time and were their for us whenever we needed them before, during, and after the wedding. Mike and Karen you were wonderful hosts and it is no wonder that your venue stays booked year round. You are an awesome couple who truly care about helping people make lasting, cherished memories. WQe are so thankful for all of your help and support.

The property itself was fine as to be expected, however we were disappointed in the level of service provided by the owners. We had several issues with them and were disappointed in their responses. Other items were not mentioned while discussing wedding plans, ie, time the dj has to stop playing, bartender requirements. Please go over everything with them and make sure you have a complete understanding of the rules. There are rules. Check out time was at 11a and at quarter till, other guests were arriving for the next event. We felt rushed and the need to leave promptly.

Owner's Response: The great thing about America is that while we might not agree, I respect everyone's right to speak their mind. I'm glad you liked the property. We arrived at the wedding 3 hours early as we always do to help with parking and coordination of the event. When we arrived there were 2 large boxers running in and out of the house a clear violation of our no pet policy. I asked they be kenneled or put outside. (The next wedding party had to clean up dog poop from the yard) We tried to be as reasonable as possible. I could tell you were frustrated and you told me there was so much more to do. I did your flowers and arbor to help out. This took several hours and I normally wouldn't do this but, was trying to help. As the night progressed our staff went about their usual cleaning up abandoned plates, waiting on guest, emptying garbage. When the guest are finished with the buffet we usually wrap leftovers and wash up items used for the buffet. We have to wash the dishes in the kitchen and clean the counter to make room for these items to be brought in the house. It makes a large mess cooking for 100 folks so we expect there to be things to clean and wash that's why the staff is there. We do this for every wedding and things go smoothly. We are not trying to micromanage we are working as a team to keep things going and clean as the night goes on. I know there was 1 issue when an intoxicated guest was frying crab cakes. I stayed in the kitchen to keep an eye out and make sure the stove got turned off. We reserve the right to protecting our property from damage as well as guest from danger. We usually have 40 weddings scheduled and those brides deserve a nice venue. We can't have a fire. We spoke before the end of the reception and I thought this was resolved esp. since we were eating cake together at 1 AM. I'm sorry the next guest came to the door 15 mins. early. They were redirected away from the house to the barn. I'm not sure why this made you feel rushed and am sorry they came to the door. As far as the bartender, you are hiring her by the hour. She needs to be hired for the duration of the time that you will be serving alcohol. The county has a noise ordinance at 10 PM I can not give you or the DJ permission to break this law. We certainly don't want the sheriff pulling your guest over. Again, we apologize for any misunderstandings or issues you might have had with us. It certainly seemed the vast majority of your guest had a great time.
