Our summer holiday 2008

It all goes so damn fast, doesn't it ?
Well, six of us, myself, my wife Alison, our chiildren, Oliver (7) and Lillian(4), and my brother in law Cloin and his wife Joan have just returned from two fabulous weeks staying in this lovely converted barn.
The barn was very clean on our arrival and the rooms lovely in size - the downstairs double with ensuite bathroom, a particular feature. The kitchen/Dining area was superb with all mod cons plus a great view of the garden with the double french doors opening onto the patio area - Being a chef, Colin loved having the room to spread himself out and make as much mess as possible!
Outside, the rear garden was excellent - the pictures show the overall size and as stated in the description, there are loads of garden games and stuff in the store room at the side of the barn. Very safe and very secure.
The hamlet itself is very quiet, with a couple of occupied houses at the end of the lane - one of these is owned by Sam, her other half Barry and their little girl, Isobelle (sp??) - Now, Sam is the lady who you will deal with if booking through holiday-rentals, and I must say, on behalf of all us, a big thank you to Sam (and her mother in Law Christine, who occupies a the second house at the end of the lane) for the help they gave Alison and Joan when my little girl fell very poorly one Sunday evening ( I was away fishing !!) Sam, who speaks excellent French, called the doctor and got him to meet them at the hospital, and Lillian was treated quickly and efficiently - Sam then took me into Bellac at 10pm to get the required medication from the Pharmacy (which was shut, but Sam got on the phone and got the Pharmacist to open up for us) !! Needless to say, we are indebted to Sam & Christine for all there help.......
Finally we were lucky enought to meet the owner, Tracey and her 9 year old twins, Emily and Jessica, who flew out from England to stay with Christine (Tracey's Mum - all very confusing!!) towards the end of our stay, and the girls spent the last few days playing with our two kids and all having a great time time....
Now, this is rural France, the nearest Boulangerie (Sp??) being 3 miles away! If you want peace and quiet, book it - that said, with a vehicle, its no problem to travel where ever you like in the region.
All in all, an excellent stay and we will be back again next year !! THANKYOU x
