Pictures don't do it justice! This beautiful, open concept log-sided home is the perfect get-away for families, and is located 5 minutes from Mt. Abram, and only 20 minutes to the slopes at Sunday River. Features included a fully applianced kitchen, a magnificent real stone fireplace, cathedral ceiling, master bath, fully finished basement with woodstove, and an outdoor sunken hottub. The large deck faces the slopes of Mt. Abram and features an outdoor fireplace to enjoy while soaking in the hottub. Spend your day skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice fishing, or ice skating, then come home to relax infront of a fire. Want something more to do? Try playing a game of darts or pool in the basement, or kick back and watch TV on the 50' plasma tv in the great room. Whatever you decide, you will not be disappointed you chose to do it at Slopeview.
So where do I begin. Upon entering the home I am recieved with the unmistakable smell of dog. Then notice dog hair on the carpet and couch. So I proceed to find a vacuum to clean the floor and couch, since my child has allergies to dogs, which was expressed to the homeowner. Although they don't allow pets into the home, they don't mind their dog shedding all over the place then overlook the need to vacuum thoroughly. Might want to address this with the cleaners. They should do a much better job for the cleaning fee being charged. After cleaning for 30mins plus, we decide to move into our rooms. I am disappointed I overlooked the mention of aero twin beds, because they were awful! They were barely inflated. The pumps were not pluged in and to top it off, the outlets did not work in that room. After calling the owner and having to flip the switch on the breaker, I was able to inflate the beds by cupping my hands over the exhaust, since the caps were missing. Which, by the way, I found in the closet on the ground on the last day. Finally, to top off the disappoints, after skiing and wanting to relax and play some pool, I noticed the pool table was not level. Or should I say warped. Needless to say, I felt like a pro since all I needed to do was get the ball within 2inches of the pocket and it would roll in. So yeah, we played a couple games and gave up. So that's the bad. Anything good you ask? Yes, the kitchen was haphazardly stocked although dated and dirty looking. The home itself was built solid with beautiful wood beams and hardwood floors. The hottub worked well and did not smell moldy like some places. The drive back and forth from Sunday River was an acceptable 20+mins. We got a ton of snow the second day we were there and needed to have the driveway plowed, which only took a call to the homeowner. Thankfully we had 4wheel drive vehicles to get us out of the driveway and into main road. Note to homeowners: we enjoyed the stay for the most part but wished for fine tuning. Outdated is never a problem if properly cleaned. Have a discussion with cleaning crew. Aero beds should not be considered beds, period. Pool table is not at all fun to play on if the balls don't roll straight. With that said, your rental has great potential for a fun party get away to the mountains.

Owner's Response: My husband and I have been renting our property for close to 10 years, and have never, ever, had a tenant complain about the house being "outdated", "dirty looking" or "smelling of dog". I am upfront and honest with all of my potential renters both in the description of the property, and in the fact that, although I don't allow pets, I do bring my own with me when I use the house. We take alot of pride in our home, and work very hard to provide a warm, inviting, and yes, clean rental.
I am sorry that the house did not meet the reviewer's expectations and that he felt he could only give it a 2 star review.
