Photos and Description of the Lancaster vacation townhome rental
Townhome, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Sleeps 6

This brand new town home is in the heart of stoudtburg village.

Inspired by medieval European towns, Stoudtburg Village was the brainchild of Adams town entrepreneur Edward D. Stoudt, whose businesses include Stoudt’s Black Angus Restaurant and Stoudt’s Brewing Co.

In 1994, following one of his many trips to Europe, Stoudt decided to build a German hamlet where shopkeepers could live and operate businesses all in one quaint place.

“It’s as things were in the old days, when there were mom-and-pop stores and the family lived above the shop,” Stoudt said. “Europe is still that way.”

Established in 1996, the privately owned village is comprised of 42 Old World-style buildings which feature shops — usually about 400 square feet — on the first floor, topped by 1,800 square feet of modern living space on the second and third floors. A two-car garage is in the back of each structure.

Stoudtburg Village has become a destination in itself. There are more than 20 businesses, including art galleries, a wine shop, gift shops, boutiques, a hair salon, an old-fashioned sweet shop, an authentic English tea room and — the hub of the village — a coffee shop.

Fabulous Find!

Submitted: June 1, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
This place was a great find for our getaway to meet with family. The home was very comfortable and allowed for some nice together time we would not have had otherwise at a hotel. The unique setting was an added bonus. Spending time in the village and adjacent antique shops added a very pleasant addition to our trip.

One of the main attractions for us is in the area is the Site and Sound Theater in Lancaster. This is a very easy ride from the Stoudtburg village. You can take the highway or a nice country drive between the two locations. I would recommend a dive we took back from Lancaster by way of the Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl. Not only did we have a nice drive through some Pennsylvania Dutch farmland, but we had more than our fill at the Shady Maple (this place is an experience in itself).

It was a great time made all the better by our stay at Carolyn’s home.

Pleasant, Quiet, and Fun!

This is a delightfully quirky house, comfortable and homey... a great place for 3 old girlfriends to reunite! Conveniently located close to the PA Turnpike for easy access to Philadelphia or Harrisburg, and close to Lancaster and Reading. There are so many options for things to do in this area. Three bedrooms worked well for us, although sleeping was difficult due to the excessive light from streetlights right outside our windows (there are either no window coverings, or the ones that are there are tissue-paper thin). Bring some sort of eye covering if you mind a well-lit room at night. A gas fireplace adds a cozy touch, and the full kitchen is great for saving money. There is one very nice full bath downstairs, and a full bath upstairs with an odd seated shower/hot tub sort of thing that does not have a shower curtain. All three of us used the downstairs bath for showers, and that held us up just a little bit, but that was ok because we weren't in much of a hurry :). The house was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and perusing the shops at Stoudtburg Village on Sunday before we left was an added bonus! The caretaker, Brian, is such a pleasant and helpful person! Overall, a wonderful experience that I would have given an "excellent" rating to, if not for the issue with the overly-lit bedrooms. I would definitely recommend this house to friends! As someone who lives locally, it was especially fun to get the chance to see my hometown from tourist's eyes. Thank you for a fabulous weekend!

Relaxing & Quant

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful New Years Eve weekend with family and friends at this rental. The place had just been cleaned by a cleaning lady and the guy who we worked with to get into the property was easily available by phone. He was nice and met us there to let us in.

Our favorite parts of our stay were the fireplace, the books & games on the shelves, the village shops right outside our door, the bakery & cheese shop across the street, as well as the Black Angus steakhouse. We had friends in the area come over one evening and they were really impressed with the layout of the house and were interested in bringing a group from their church there. It is just such a great property and so relaxing not having TV as a distraction in this property.

So - this is a great property if you need a break from our technology ridden world and just need to think or reconnect with that special someone. It is also a great property if you like antique stores or small shops. Also, around the property there are great baking shops, little restaurants, and you're close enough to malls or movie theaters if you need a break from the quiet. ;)

Thank you Carolyn & all for showing us such great hospitality! My wife is already talking about a return visit at some point this next year.

Our family had a wonderful time staying at this townhouse for the Christmas holiday. It was homey and clean. It was also located very close to the PA Turnpike for easy commuting. We would definitely stay here again!

This place was perfect for our budget and large family. Considering our other option was to stay in a hotel were we would have to have two rooms and no kitchen, living area or dining area, this place met all our needs and wants for far less then a stay at a hotel. Plus, it was conveniently located to our family in Mohnton, Birdsboro Wyomissing and Reading. The village the flat is located in is perfect for taking a family stroll and browsing the shops or getting a good meal without ever getting into your car. I will say the street lights are bright and the window coverings are minimal, but these minor inconveniences pale in comparison to all the other pluses that are provided. There are plenty of books, games and toys for the kids there too.
