About Diane Dalton

Diane and Christopher. We live and work in Austin, TX. We visited Bethel, ME in 2011 and knew that this was a place we want to bring our family for many years to come. Growing up in the panhandle of Texas, (Diane) and Iowa (Christopher), we had NO idea that Maine was such a fabulous state to visit! We were enamored with the area and chose this beautiful cabin which we immediately remodeled, then added a screened gazebo and fire pit to better enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Each year we continue to add features and upgrade because we consider each guest a special part of our endeavors to provide a wonderful vacation.

Diane Dalton purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Diane Dalton chose Bethel

Where do we begin.....Ski magazine has hailed Bethel, ME 'The Greatest Ski Town In the Universe' and '#1 Best Skiing in New England', GOLF.com #1 'Best Public Golf Course in the Northeast' (2014). Bethel was also listed in the top 10 'Best Outdoor Places in America', offering hiking, biking, canoeing, rafting, and Bethel's Outdoor Adventure Park.

We first visited the Bethel area in the summer of 2011. We immediately fell in love with the area and its friendly people. There were countless activities from which to choose for our 15 y/o daughter and her friend. We played golf on the spectacular Sunday River #1 Ranked (GOLF.com 2014) course, hiked, canoed, and white-water rafted. On the weekend, we went to Sunday River Resort where we did the zip line and went down the mountain to the brewing company, where we had delicious hamburgers and a flight of beer. Sunday River also offers hiking and mountain biking at various levels of expertise.

The restaurants were fabulous! We dined at the tavern, Suds, where we listened to great live music. Later, we ate at a world renowned 22 Broad Street 4-star restaurant, where we had wonderful Italian food. There were many cuisines available....or you can cook your own delicious meal!

We were sold once we discovered that the best snow and golf course in the Northeast is Sunday River. Our family loves both winter and summer sports so this scenic place was perfect!

What makes this cabin unique

Since 2011, when we purchased our lovely cabin, it has been such a joy to offer our guests new and beautiful features. Every year, we determine what our guests and family would enjoy and add those features/items to the cabin.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Diane -

How do I begin.. Thank You!! Thank you so very much for allowing Sean

and I the opportunity to rent your beautiful cabin and make BEAUTIFUL

memories. From the minute we walked through the door, until the moment we

put the key back into the lock box, we were in heaven. We had two beautiful

days, one of which we hiked through the Screw Auger Falls and had delicious

brick oven pizza at the Matterhorn ( I am craving the Edelweiss.. hehe) and

even though it snowed our last full day, we watched movies, laughed and

made memories. All of which was made possible by you. We hope you received

positive feedback on how we left the cabin ( I made sure we never went to

bed until the place looked the way it did when we arrived) and even though

we had an issue with the water, Josh was incredibly friendly, arrived

within 10 minutes of our call, apologized for the mistake and we had smooth

sailing after. It is obvious that you and your husband take pride in your

cabin and in the notion of leaving others with memories as beautiful as

ours. That being said, Sean called me this evening and said now that we are

home in New Jersey he wants to be back in Maine. He asked me to check when

your availabilities are for the September/October months. This time

bringing our daughter and his mother (who works three jobs and hasn't taken

a vacation since Seans father died - over 13 years) we know she will FALL

IN LOVE with the wood, the décor and the way it makes you feel that you

never left home. We would love to come during a time when a moose hike or

any hike without snow for that matter, can be taken. When we would be

surrounded by the foliage and the smells and see the town alive. I know

winter is the towns season, but we are not "winter" people... but we have

become Maine people... Anyways, I do not know how to thank you enough. If

you could get back to me about available renting dates that would be

greatly appreciated.

Again, Thank You

Beautiful home. Perfect for multiple families.

  • 5 of 5

Organizing a vacation for three different couples I was a bit concerned that the home would meet everyone's expectations. From the minute we arrived to the day we left the comments from all included, "Beautiful and clean, great choice.", " Spacious, very well maintained.", " Comfortable beds, quality furnishings and very well stocked with plenty of towels and much needed plates, glasses and kitchen utensils.". The open layout of the kitchen; with modern appliances, and dining room with fireplace was a great place for all of us to congregate after a day of skiing. Plenty of wine and cheese parties. The three levels of the home with separate television rooms on two of the levels, allowed for privacy and chance to spread out if so desired. The outdoor gazebo, hot tub and fire pit is nothing more then outstanding. Diane was a real pleasure to deal with during the reservation process and throughout our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the wonderful review! You were also a pleasure from the beginning of our correspondence! It's nice to know that you all appreciated the cabin in the same way we do when we share great times with our family. We are especially delighted that you enjoyed all the amenities we have added and maintained since we purchased our cabin just over two years ago. Please know that we would look forward to have you as our guests again! Diane and Chris

Wonderful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have been happier with our weekend ski trip. Booking the cabin was very easy and Diane was so helpful with providing information for our trip. The cabin was adorable and well stocked with towels, blankets, games, and kitchen items. There was plenty of room and areas to sleep.

Everyone couldn't stop talking about how great the cabin was and we will certainly be back. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend.

Good for families

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a comfortable place to stay with our five-month-old that was close to trails, views, and towns. The property met those requirements and then some. We enjoyed how well-kept the cabin was. In addition to being tastefully decorated, the bed and bed linens were extremely comfortable -- a key point for new parents running a sleep deficit. We travel frequently and enjoy the small touches that make a place feel like home. The cabin was stocked with family-friendly movies (and one copy of Silence of the Lambs), games, and dry goods, so it felt like we were staying at a friends' house rather than a soulless timeshare or condo. We took our little guy hiking on the Mount Will loop and up to Grafton Notch State Park. Both were enjoyable. North Conway and the Presidentials are a nice day trip away, and Gorham, NH is a fun side trip if you're looking for a little more action than we found in Bethel. (I'm assuming it's shoulder season, too late for river sports and leaf-peeping and too early for skiing.) We'd stay again in a heartbeat if we were in the area.

Owner's Response: Yea!!! So glad to hear it was fun for you two AND the baby!!! Knowing that you found trails for hiking with him is exciting for my family, who is planning a trip to the cabin this summer with our not yet born grandson :) Thanks for adding the names of the trails (many will welcome that information). We appreciate you mentioning the beds! Beds are such a priority for us when we take a vacation but we never know until we get to our destination. When we purchased the cabin in 2012, we ranked beds and 800+ thread count sheets as the #1 priority . We continue to add quality pillows and sheets as they are needed. We are looking forward to have you again! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Diane & Chris

Beautiful, Relaxing, High Quality Stay

  • 5 of 5

We pulled up to the property later than anticipated, so we couldn't see much of the outside. My husband and I traveled to the cabin to relax in the hot tub, and spend out days and nights in a beautiful, luxurious home, and we got just that! My first impression walking in was how stunning the cabin was, and how spotless! The beds were so unbelievably comfortable, the kitchen fully equipped, hot tub worked extremely well and was so nice in the gazebo, the cabin was on a dirt road, we got to take walks, and go into town just 15 minutes away, and although it was just the two of us, you could certainly bring children, there are three bedrooms, and there's a place for the kids to play games upstairs in the loft, and downstairs in the basement. The wifi was also a huge plus, and I can't say enough good things about it! We were so pleased with our stay, and the quality of the cabin and overall stay, we certainly want to return!!!

Fabulous place

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cabin for a three days week end, we were a group of 8 adults. It was amazing, very convenient and peaceful place, beautiful cabin, very clean and welcoming. The hot tub and the fire pit are clearly some plus and very appreciable after a hiking day.

We would recommend the cabin for sure and we'd love to go back there another time!

Thank you Diane for your fast replies.

Owner's Response: Every time a guest, such as you, posts such a nice review, it just warms my heart! We left the heat of Texas this summer to lovely Maine so we could work on the cabin; putting together new furniture, changing the bedding, adding new wall deco and finally to relax and enjoy the cabin. You were one of the first guests to enjoy the changes we made while there. Absolutely stay again!! You were wonderful guests!!! Diane
