A short walk takes you down to the town with its sandy beach, Victorian pier, boat trips, restaurants, shops, supermarkets and pubs. Swanage itself has over a mile of sandy beach and the huge unspoilt National Trust beach of Studland Bay is only a few miles away. At both beaches you can hire boats and have a go at numerous water sports. From the pier it's easy to catch boats to Bournemouth, the National Trust Nature Sanctuary on Brown Sea Island and even to the Isle of Wight. If the weather isn't good enough for a beach day out then there are local indoor swimming pools and Putlake Adventure Farm on the outskirts of Swanage is always popular with the children. At Swanage railway station the steam train leaves to beautiful Corfe and its ruined castle. From Corfe you can walk back along the beautiful Purbeck Hills. Moments from the cottage is an entrance into Durlston Country Park, the very opening of the Dorset's famous Jurassic Coast. From here you can head to the lighthouse & beyond.
