|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Imagine being 4 levels up, nestled in Costa Rica’s spectacular, pristine canopy. Welcome to Jungle Roost! Enjoy your morning coffee on the wraparound deck watching monkeys foraging and making their way across the treetops.
This 2,500 ft2 home has 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms, and is fully and comfortably furnished. It has floor to ceiling windows with unobstructed views designed to bring the outside into the open and welcoming interior. The architectural design of this unique home includes numerous sliding glass doors that open to allow breezes through all 3 floors and bedrooms. Sliding screens and ceiling fans keep A/C use to a minimum.
The ground level has ample parking for your SUV, a laundry room equipped with washer and dryer, and a surf board should you be so inclined. The main level includes a spacious great room, fully-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar/island, deck surrounding the living area, and two piece bathroom.
Walk up one level to the expansive master bedroom with queen size bed, sliding doors to the wraparound deck, and massive windows for unobstructed views of the canopy wildlife. This level also has a full bathroom with a glass block, walk-in shower.
Walk up another level to the fourth floor where there are two lovely bedrooms with queen size beds, a full bathroom with a glass block, walk-in shower. Both bedrooms have floor to ceiling sliding glass doors on two walls providing access to the wraparound deck where there is a large outdoor chesterfield for quiet reading or naps. Don’t be surprised if a monkey (or 10!) sneaks past. Stay still and they will just amble by looking to jump from the balcony to the nearest tree. You will be tempted to feed them but please refrain – there is plenty of healthy food in the jungle.
The nearby beach is gorgeous and quiet. If you are in the mood for more people, funky bars, good restaurants, surf schools, groceries parasailing and fun shopping, just stroll 15 or 20 minutes along the white sand to Manuel Antonio.
My husband and two other friends had the pleasure of staying at Jungle Roost last month for an extended week. (We wisely added on two extra travel days so we would lengthen our time at the house.) All week I said that it should be renamed Jungle Heaven...we were more than thrilled with our spectacular setting. The house is eclectic and fun, always a new piece of art or object to discover every day. And don't get me started on the wraparound deck. The perfect place to watch the wildlife on the stunning grounds. Our favourite spot though was the covered dining set on the pool deck...we enjoyed many a dinner there.
A typical day for us was walking the 10 minutes to the beach, strolling the length of the beach (with the odd stop at the beach restaurant half way down) and then doing our groceries and cabbing home from the village at the end of the beach. Going down to the beach at sunset with a couple of cocktails was also spectacular. Our two activities were the National Park and zip lining. Honestly, without a word of a lie, I think Heather's property had more wildlife to offer than the Park. Maybe it was a quiet day there, but you can't beat the "monkey shows', birds and butterflies at Jungle Roost. (The sloths were elusive that week both at the park and the house) The beach at the Park is lovely though, and I wished I had brought my bathing suit. Zip lining through the company Amigos del Rio was amazing. Heather will set up your excursions...she is as helpful and resourceful as can be, from finding live music for us to enjoy, to arranging the shuttle service from the airport (made life so much easier). She greatly added to the positive experience of our new home away from home. Can't wait to return!
We felt at home right away! Heather is so helpful. She is a caring person with a big heart. Now I can honestly say I have a friend in Costa Rica. We brought our 9 year old and 12 year old and they just loved it! The capuchin monkeys would come and visit us frequently. The Jungle Roost truly made it feel like a wonderful vacation. This home allowed you to relax and see the beauty of Costa Rica all in one place. We are already planning to stay at this lovely home next February! Thanks Heather:)
My partner and I and two other couples just returned from Jungle Roost - very reluctantly! We loved the place and we love the area. It is, indeed, almost paradise. Communication with owner Heather was excellent. She was always very prompt to respond to any request. We had a minor mechanical issue, she had it resolved within a couple of hours. I recommend her place highly. The gardens are really spectacular with beautiful flowers everywhere. And don't pass up the chance to enjoy the garden swing! We had multiple visits from two kinds of monkeys, quite entertaining! Although not really a Gay Destination, Manuel Antonio is certainly Gay Friendly. Our group had a wonderful week of beach and fine food. We all hope to return some day.
I recently enjoyed a week in Manuel Antonio with three friends. We had the pleasure of staying at Jungle Roost for our visit. The beautiful three bedroom house was our home away from home.With three levels of balconies and deck beside the wonderful pool providing a scenic background for the amazing gardens. We were treated to an outstanding display of colourful birds and butterflies. While the surrounding canopy provided an active showing of monkeys on a daily basis.
Our host Heather made sure we had everything we needed to ensure our stay was comfortable and hassle free.
I would highly recommend staying at Jungle Roost and when I return to Manuel Antonio I hope to stay there again
This is a wonderful house in the middle of a well landscaped jungle complete with monkeys, exotic plants and birds! Never a dull moment. Heather had an answer for all our needs...even reserving tennis courts at the local club. My tip for anyone staying here is walk along the beach, eat at one of the restaurants along the beach, then do a little shopping in the town, and take the bus back home!
We were 3 couples at Jungle Roost for 10 day and our stay there was fabulous! The house is clean and comfortable, the decor lovely and bright. The garden is a lush haven for the birds, monkey and other jungle critters, and the pool is refreshing after a day's adventure. Heather is so accommodating, answering our multitude of questions and going above and beyond, driving us around Quepos for supplies. There is tons to do in the area and lots of great restaurants. The beach is gorgeous, I would recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle if you don't want the 10 minute quite steep hike from the beach up to the house.We'd go back in a heart-beat. Enjoy! Linda.
