Beautiful Hiawatha Forest Home,Tranquil Lake,King Bed,Stone Fireplace

This place is perfect. It was clean, beautiful and better than expected and advertised. Thank you so much for making our vacation so amazing. We will come back to this place without a doubt.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to stay in this home. It is the most tastefully decorated, warm, comfortable home --on a pine-studded lawn that slopes down to Boot Lake. It is in the Hiawatha National Forest, a dense wonderland of confers and deciduous hardwood trees, awash with red, yellow-gold and greens of all hues in late September.
I slept on the best bed ever (I just asked for the make and model because I want to buy one just like it) and awoke to the light filtering through pines that stretched way above the 2nd floor balcony of the master bedroom. What a joy!
Honestly, when I think of the beauty of the home, the beauty of the land, I get choked up. People seem to have such respect for life and a strong sense of community. I never saw a speck of litter; never heard a disparaging word. Everyone I met was warm and inviting. I always felt safe. I just hope to return one day.
And I want to thank Robin, for her warmth, availability, helpfulness -- for opening her home. You have impeccable taste and I hope one day I get to meet you.

What nearby activities, attractions and restaurants would you recommend? I enjoyed the cruises (Pictured Rocks, the Shipwreck cruise, and the Tahquamenon Falls via the Toonerville Trolley), hiking to some of the easier to get to waterfalls, talking to local people (who were all truly wonderful and generous with their time, sharing their stories. As for restaurants, I'd plan on cooking more in the fabulous kitchen rather than eating out --although I really enjoyed my lunch and hanging out a bit at Falling Rocks Cafe.

The lodge is beautiful! Boot Lake is a lovely, private, quiet lake, and there are views to it through the pine trees through the many large windows. The wrap-around deck was great and my husband and I ate dinner out there many times. I have knee problems, but the steps down to the lake are fairly shallow, so I managed to get down there a couple times and take photos and videos of the lake and my husband rowing the canoe and swimming. Don't know if it was because of the lake of rain lately or not, but there were almost no flies nor mosquitoes. We bought food on the way in to the lodge in Munising, and cooked and ate many meals at home. Munising is a charming little town, and we at fresh caught fish at Sidney's, Jilbert's ice cream at Falling Rock Cafe, and all you can eat seafood (including Lake Superior fresh fish) twice at The Dogpatch restaurant. We went to a couple waterfalls, drove to Grand Marais agate beach on Lake Superior, had ice cream at the railroad car diner. We had a GREAT time and will be back! So peaceful and relaxing, even with the Wifi and satellite TV. So comfortable. Beats the heck out of hotel/motel rooms, even the ones with full kitchens.
