We are experienced vacation rental owners with multiple homes in the area. We take tremendous pride in creating a special and beautiful vacation home experience.
As travelers we have stayed in vacation rentals around the world and know what it takes to make a truly special vacation home.
While the entire lake is beautiful, we love this location because of the flat waterfront area and the east side orientation.
The east side of the lake gets great sun most of the day, while the west side of the lake can get dark and cold by mid-day.
The evening sunset from the property is magnificent.
My family had the best vacation we ever had. We kayaked on the river every day right from the backyard Staying in this home was more like staying in a first class hotel from the closets piled high with clean linens and towels to a kitchen stocked with every gadget or appliance you would want. We didn't want to leave and hope to come back next summer!
We loved it. Everything you could need. Thanks, Sarah!
Since this our second consecutive stay at this property and our experience this year was even better than last year - what else can we say. It is a very enjoyable place to be. A plus is the availability of a magnificent pool and tennis courts nearby to the house.
This is a beautiful property that is perfectly maintained. We are a family of four with two boys aged 12 and 14. We were able to enjoy the tennis and basketball facilities at the pool club and the canoeing, kayaking, and swimming right off the backyard. The house and property itself are maintained to a far higher standard than any of the other rentals we have enjoyed on home away. First class appliances and bedding, furnishings and kitchenware. Sarah and family are also very thoughtful in leaving plenty of supplies -- the kind of stuff you hate to buy for a one week rental but very few owners provide. A beautiful place for a relaxing and active vacation!
What a beautiful vacation home! I was stunned by how open the home was yet comfortable, clean and practicle. One of my favorite characteristics about the house was not only the huge screen patio out back, but the simple yet relaxing hammock right next to the water. It was a perfect place to lay and read my book (and take a quick nap too).
If you are looking for a quiet and comfortable place to vacation- I highly reccommend this house! Especially in the early fall when its still warm to enjoy the water and marvel at the exquisite New England foliage. I look forward to coming back next year!
What an absolute pleasure this secluded gem turned out to be - the perfect setting to shoot an independant feature film on-location, and I couldn't be happier that that's exactly what we did during our stay.
The Frogmarch is a story of a group of longtime friends who hold a surprise intervention on a truly isolated piece of property in an effort to leave no choice for the addict in question but to detox. Thankfully, this rental had everything - literally, everything (outside of the food it took to feed a twelve-man crew) - that we needed to conveniently create the reality of our film.
Spacious, luxurious, and visually stunning, the home itself sits on a wonderfully kept piece of land, where the front of the house is subtlely removed from the street, and the back of the house not only lies directly on the pristine waters of Woodridge Lake, but also provides a backyard large enough for a game of two-hand touch or whiffle ball. And that's just the location.
The home itself is simply phenomenal. A giant screen porch, a wonderful bench-lined deck, a fantastic dining area which opens into a living room with cathedral-ceilings, a fully-eqipt kitchen, and a lovely loft space comprise all of the common areas.
In addition to those beautiful spaces where most of our scenes were staged, are three bedrooms (not including the loft space which has two beds as well) - each having the capacity to sleep two people. The house easily slept eight of us, and after eighteen hour days of shooting, the comfort of the beds was critical for us to make it through the week during what little time we had to rest.
On top of everything, this place is the epitome of the boyscout motto: be prepared. From disposable razors, to back up propane tanks for the grill, to a sea of spare blankets and pillows, if you forgot something, or simply need anything in a pinch, there's a ninety-six percent chance you'll find it on-site. Amazing.
So if you're looking for an exceptional getaway, this is it. Lounge in the shoreline hammock, have a laugh by the fire pit, take a spin in one of the kayaks, or if you're so inclined, shoot a film.
Thanks to The Butlers for their hospitality!
Our lake is the best kept secret in Litchfield County. Many folks who live in the area their whole lives have never been, that is because the lake is private and only residents have access.
The lake is almost 400 acres, great for kayaking, boating, swimming, windsurfing and fishing.
While there other lakes in the area, this is the only private lake. This means the lake is tranquil, serene and very clean, year round. It is also the only lake in the area where residents have access to 8 tennis courts, 4 sand beaches, a huge clubhouse with events for kids, adults and families in the summer, an exercise room, basketball court and playground. Snackbar. Concerts at the clubhouse beach on Tuesday & Saturdays in the summer. All included in your rental.
The town of Litchfield is about 5 miles away, this historic town has some great restaurants and shops.
Litchfield County is full of things to do! In the summer months there is a lot going on at the lake, social events, beach concerts, fishing derbies (lake is stocked), kids camp, tennis, swimming lessons, boating, the list goes on. Great quiet roads for jogging and biking. Horseback riding lessons at local stables.
Hiking at Mohawk State Park is just around the corner. Kent Falls is another wonderful state park destination.
Fly fishing guides (such as Housatonic Anglers) will take you fishing in the Housatonic and Farmington Rivers.
Tubing in the Farmington River and Rafting in the Housatonic River.
For shopping there are many antique shops in Litchfield, Kent, Cornwall and the surrounding towns. There are also wonderful boutiques in these towns, such as Derwins and Hayseed.
Nearby Wineries like Miranda Vineyards have tastings & special events.
There are all sorts of events at the Goshen Fairgrounds, like the Goshen Fair and the Litchfield Jazz Festival.
Great music events at Infinity Hall, this is a wonderful place to have dinner and enjoy live music
Tanglewood in Lenox Mass is less than an hour away, there are great summer concerts there like the Boston Pops, Boston Symphony Orchestra and James Taylor.
Stony Brook Golf course is a short drive from the house.
Other things to do in the area - Audubon Center, 7-circuit labyrinth at the Wisdom House in Litchfield, and the Sloane Stanley Museum in Kent
The lake is quieter in the fall & winter. The foliage is amazing in this area in the fall.
Winter months brings skiing at nearby Mohawk Mountain (5 miles), ice skating on the lake, ice fishing, sledding, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing. Larger ski areas are about 35 miles away in Great Barrington, MA.
The local wine store is 2 miles from the house and a large grocery store (Stop & Shop) is 5 miles away.
If you're coming in from out of the area, New York City is only a 2 hour drive - or an easy train ride to Grand Central Station. This could be a fun day trip.
