HERE'S WHAT OUR GUESTS HAVE TO SAY:
"We love the Kekaha Sunset Cottage! It's super clean, everything feels new and its beautifully furnished and fully equipped with all the conveniences and amenities we need. The beds and high thread-count linens are ultra comfortable too! We enjoyed playing cards on the covered outdoor gazebo and looked forward to walking down to the beach each night for the amazing sunsets. It's a super place to enjoy a "laid back" vacation away from the crowds and traffic."
"We had a great time at the cottage! It was very comfortable and was the perfect arrangement for us."
Thanks, we had a great time!
"The new deck at the cottage looks awesome! We can hardly wait to get back to Kauai!"

You'll want to be sure to enjoy the following which are all within a short drive from the Kekaha Sunset Cottage:
WAIMEA CANYON - KOKEE STATE PARK
Travel up the Waimea Canyon to Koke'e State Park and visit Koke'e Natural History Museum where you will find a display of flora, fauna, natural history of the area and collections of shells and Hawaiian artifacts. If you like to hike or just take a short stroll, this area offers numerous hiking trails and scenic viewpoints where you will encounter some of the most breathtaking scenery in Hawaii.
POLIHALE STATE PARK & BEACH
A few miles to the West of the Kekaha Sunset Cottage is Polihale Beach and Polihale State Park where you can walk along the shore for a view of the South End of the Na Pali Cliffs. The miles of white sand beaches and crystal clear blue water are breathtaking, but so is the sand during the heat of the day. Make sure to wear your slippers or shoes to cross the sand to the shoreline. Don't forget to bring a picnic lunch and drinks and of course the camera!
There is theatre in Waimea Town to catch an evening movie as well as a handful of local restaurants. The resort area of Poipu is just a short drive from the Kekaha Sunset Cottage if you are interested in Golf and shopping. There are tennis courts within walking distance from the vacation rental as well.

We hav enjoyed our stay very much. We have rented several homes in the islands and only one other was as comfortable and well-equipped! Thank you.
Aloha oe Tony, our 7-day stay at the Kekaha Sunset Cottage was perfect. The property is located about 26 miles west of Lihue, (about a 40 minute drive). The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you will need. All appliances worked well. The only thing we needed to supply was the food we wanted to eat. We were able to utilize the Navy Exchange facilities at Barking Sands to that end. There is one market in Kekaha and 2 in Waimea that you can purchase food items. The decorations in the house are minimal and done in a Hawaiian motif; I especially liked the chart of Kaua'i in the main hallway.
Sunset Cottage is located in a neighborhood that is real Hawaii, not a resort. The house is located away from all of the resort properties and the associated crowds that are drawn to them. It is located 2 short blocks from a non-crowded beach area, (even during Prince Kuhio Day) where you can watch fantastic sunsets each night. After enjoying your day or night at the beach, an outdoor shower can be used to rinse off prior to entering the house. There are beach towels and chairs available for use along with a washer/dryer to clean your clothes for the next days adventure.
This side of the island is very arid, we had no rain at all in Kekaha during our stay, while it poured in Poipu, Lihue and the North Shore on various days. This does tend to make it a little warmer than other areas of the island.
There was a farmers market in Kekaha on Saturday starting at 0900 but items were mostly gone by 1030. However, good deals and delicious fruit were to be had if you got there early. You must try the apple banana (they are shaped like a small Chiquita banana but have a slight green apple taste). The less traveled back way to Waimea Canyon is located close by which leads you to the Grand Canyon of Hawaii. There are numerous hiking opportunities in this park. In addition, Waimea is a short 3 miles down the road and there is so much history in this town, you can spend an entire day exploring this quaint town. There is a 90-minute walking tour with historical markers pointing out the major items. Waimea also hosts the oldest monkey pod tree on Kauai. Also, stop by Jo-Jo’s for the best shaved ice on the island (shameless plug), but the service can be slow.
Kekaha Sunset Cottage No Ka Oi, Mahalo nui loa Tony, for allowing us the use of your wonderful house. Looking forward to our next visit to Kauai and the wonderful Kekaha Sunset Cottage
Our stay at the Kekaha Beach Cottage was perfect, we enjoyed every minute there. The house being located in the family/residential section of Kekaha was so nice. Very quiet and peaceful. We could hear the ocean at night, and would make our coffee and walk the beach in the mornings. The house was furnished and decorated Hawaiian style, and our meals were cooked and eaten on the outside lanai-Due to bad weather here at home, our flights were delayed coming out and the owner worked with us, letting us extend until the day the next renters was due, which was very much appreciated. This is definitely where we will stay our next vacation to Kauai.
Our family attended a family reunion in Kekaha and the Kekaha Sunset Cottage was the perfect lodging place for our stay. Little did we know, it was in walking distance to the Kekaha Community Center. The listing accurately described the property and the photos reflected the overall appearance and amenities. Upon our arrival to the cottage, we were amazed to see the beautiful, modern, hawaiian decor and how meticulously neat and clean the place was. The gazebo outside was a relaxing place to sit & chat while taking in the breeze. The ceiling fans in the house were great since it was so hot & humid. The Wi-Fii availability came in handy to occupy our grandson with games on the iPad. Tony, the property owner, is very accommodating and understanding. He will work with you to ensure a pleasant and memorable stay in Kekaha. We would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives; it is a "home-away-from-home." Aloha & mahalo Tony!
This is was my first trip to the islands and I wanted a relaxing experience. And that's what I got. From the time we walked into the house I felt like I was at home. The bed was very comfortable, kitchen was very well stocked, a very good selection of dvd movies were available and the house was located in a nice area of the Island. Thanks again and Aloha!
Tony takes excellent care of this property and we recommend it for anybody who wants to stay on this part of Kauai. The kitchen has everything you will need. Everything works well and if you have any needs, Tony is very helpful. It is obvious that he wants your experience to be the best possible. The TV has surround sound and is large and new. Details such as beach chairs and towels; candles to burn on the outdoor dining table;washer/dryer with soap;probably enough TP and paper towels depending on the length of your stay. Sunset Cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood that is real Hawaii and is just as advertised in the ad. We loved the outdoor shower! It is also decorated well with a lot of thought given to details. Though not on the beach it is close enough to walk to for viewing sunsets. The little town of Waimea is nearby and has good grocery stores. I recommend going to the cottage first to see what you really need before shopping as useful items from previous renters are not all cleared away. Check times for a very nearby farmers market but you must be there a little early as everything will sell out in minutes! The nearby beach is a great long beachwalker's dream. You are also very close to the road to Waimea Canyon and Kokee Park for many sights and hiking trails. Polihali Beach is also not far and is fabulous. We went to Poipu for great snorkeling. There is an excellent fish store on the way home in Koloa. I would recommend this property to my friends and we would not even look into staying at another place if we return and stay on this part of Kauai.
The owner was the greatest host - met us at the airport, available for any questions.
The house was clean, in good condition, spacious, all amenities one would need, plus
lots of personal touches by the owner. Perhaps the only downside for us -- and this is
definitely a personal preference -- Kakaha is not as central as we might have liked.
Great for exploring Waimea Canyon, but a long drive to places on the east side.
We spent a second week on the east side and found it more central for our interests
and would probably rent closer to that side next time.
