GREAT VALUE MODERN APT CHAMPS ELYSÉES/EIFFEL, TOP LOCATION SLEEPS 4/5

Using an internet service to find an apartment can be worrisome as undoubtedly there is always someone out there who isn’t honest and we’ve all heard horror stories, so I feel very fortunate that we came across this apartment on Rue Lauriston. Specifically we were looking for a clean two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in a safe neighborhood that was close to the metro and had some nearby restaurants and shopping within walking distance. That is exactly what we found. The photos and description is very accurate. We live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and staying in the 8th Arrondissement was like home. Rue Lauriston runs parallel with Rue Victor Hugo, which can be compared to Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side. Walk just a few blocks and you are captivated by the magnitude of the Arc de Triomphe. Both Cynthia and Kristof speak perfect English and considering I don’t speak French it was very easy to communicate and dealing with them was a pleasure. Kristof met us at the apartment to provide us with the keys and Cynthia was there to see us off the last day. They provided enough information on the neighborhood and the city to get us started and they offered their home telephone number if we needed any additional help during our stay. From our first experience with Cynthia and during our entire stay we met nothing but very congenial and hospitable Parisians. We are happy to write this review and would certainly stay here again. As Audrey Hepburn once said “Paris is always a good idea”…. and we agree.

We stayed in this apartment for 8 nights as two adult couples. I had previously lived in Paris for a summer and had been there on vacation two other times so I knew that the location would be great. It is in the 16th arrondissement which is clean, safe and a bit more residential than some other neighborhoods in Paris, which we loved because it made it so that we felt like we lived there. It is also VERY close to the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower, which was incredible because we got to visit both landmarks all lit up at night several times. It is only a short walk to the Champs-Elysees and to multiple subway lines, so there is easy access to just about every neighborhood in Paris (we used the 1, 2 and 6 most often.) Taxi stands are also close-by. While more quiet than some of the other arrondissements, there were still plenty of restaurants, bakeries, markets, etc within walking distance to enable us to get just about whatever we needed or wanted within seconds or minutes. Indeed, one of our favorite meals was only a block away.

The apartment itself is also very clean and safe. As the previous reviewer said, it has every modern appliance you might want, including a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The internet worked well for our entire visit (which we found to be very useful to look up restaurants, french history, etc) and we were able to use their landline to call home for free very easily. There is also cable television. There are two bedrooms and 2 and a half baths. Each bedroom has plenty of storage-space. The kitchen is very large and clean.

Perhaps most importantly, the owners, Cynthia and her husband, were very trustworthy and lovely people. They are both fluent in English and they were there to meet us when we arrived to show us around the apartment and to answer any questions that we might have. They live close to the apartment so would have been easily-accessible if we had any questions or problems (of which we had none).

In short, we would recommend this apartment to any friend or family member and will be contacting Cynthia again for our next trip to Paris!
