First time to the Bahamas, first time VRBO, absolutely loved the place!!! The owners were professional and so great to deal with, emails were prompt, the advice from them was very very helpful. It was exactly what we were looking for, beautiful beach, quiet, the condo was awesome, had the time of our life. We rented a car which you would pretty much have to, found the grocery stores, and drove all over the island. So safe and people are very friendly and helpful there. We miss it already and will definitely be going back. Thanks Sue and Fred for your condo, we had an amazing time.
My husband, baby, and I enjoyed a wonderful week at this condo. The views were amazing, and the pictures online do not do it justice. The water is steps from the back porch and the colors change to beautiful shades of turquoise all day. The view from the master bedroom and living room is just amazing. If you are looking for a more secluded, romantic, peaceful vacation...this is it!
The condo is very large and was very clean upon arrival. The kitchen is huge and has stainless steel appliances. I wish my own kitchen at home had as much cabinet space as what you will find here. We went grocery shopping and ate at home often. You will pay island grocery prices, which was 2 to 3 times the price of groceries in the States. The best restaurant we found was Flying Fish. Be prepared to spend over $100 per person, however it was the best meal we had ever had and the atmosphere is one of a kind.
The beach is to the right of the condo community and is a short walk at low tide. Sometimes we were the only ones on the beach, which was confusing, because this is one of the most beautiful beaches we had ever seen. The ocean is very calm and barely any waves. Our 1 yr old loved playing in the calm surf. We brought snorkeling gear and saw a lion fish and various other fish right in the rocks, in front of the condos.
Gold Rock Beach, at the national park is a must! We have seen beaches all over the world, and this was the best we ever saw. Bring a camera for sure. Ben's cave is also across the street and is interesting. Admission is $5 for both the beach and the cave. This was our favorite thing we did all week.
You definitely need a car as the condo is about 10 minutes from the grocery stores, restaurants, and the marketplace. We rented a car from Brads Car Rental, and were surprised how old and beat up the car was, but we went with it, and still loved every minute. Don't expect a brand new rental car like in the US though. You do drive on left side of the road in the Bahamas, but this was easy to get the hang of. The only cons were that there were many small ants in the kitchen and found in other parts of the house. We chalked this up to island living though, and kept all food in the fridge.
This trip was like a second Honeymoon, even with a baby! The condo is huge and the views are spectacular. We would DEFINITELY RETURN! Friends of ours rented another condo at Port of Call, and this condo was MUCH NICER than theirs. We also got our sec deposit back.
We spent our 20th wedding anniversary here and were not disappointed! The townhome is in great condition, well supplied and the wi-fi allowed us to check our email. We were able to truly relax and enjoy the peaceful surrondings. To top it off there was excellent snorkeling from the beach in front of the complex. We're already planning to return.
The condo was fully furnished well equipped and more than expected, it's beautiful as the pictures show, spacious with an amazing view, hearing the waves all day long. The location is excluded with one of the most beautiful beaches. I enjoyed it being private, relaxing, and you can snorkel all day long. We enjoyed the island, visited many beaches, the dolphins, and the people being very kind and helpful. Susan and Fred were very helpful and understanding, providing information on how to plan our vacation when we arrive. Overall we enjoyed every minute of everyday for 8 nights, we will definitely be coming back to this location and totally recommend the property.
We loved our stay here -- everything was just as we expected and more. The place was well maintained, clean, comfortable and very accommodating for our family of 4 (2 teens). The beach was beautiful and very quiet -- we had great swimming and snorkling right out front. The place is very easy to find and accessible to just about everything, yet very private. The owners were terrific and provided great suggestions for getting around the island, groceries, restaurants, shopping, sight-seeing, etc. We appreciate their wonderful hospitality and would definitely recommend this place!
We returned last night from Grand Bahama Island, where we spent a week at Fred and Sue's beautiful condo on the water. The accommodations exceeded our expectations, especially the beauty of the ocean only steps away from the balconies. For me, having morning coffee overlooking the crystal clear waters was one of the highlights of the trip. The condo is well equipped for cooking in, with all the necessary modern appliances and even a large dining table that will easily seat a large family. It was very safe, clean and well maintained, and the upstairs master has a balcony and sliders that allow you to be greeted by the magnificent view when you first open your eyes in the morning. Sue was very prompt in providing info on the condo as well as on things to do on the island, and we found her suggestions to be accurate and helpful.
While there we went reef fishing with Capt. Les Treco (strongly recommend for families with children!), spent a day doing watersports stuff at the Lucaya resort area, went to the national park, and spent a lot of time snorkeling and enjoying the pretty and private beach right at the Port of Call condos. We ate breakfast and lunch in, but we ate dinners out, except for the night that we prepared our catch from fishing. We especially liked Cappuccino's at the Lucaya Marketplace, Sabor at Pelican Bay hotel (although very slow service) and Pier One at the Harbor. Pier One has shark feedings at 7 and 8 PM, which was quite entertaining especially with two 10 ft+ sharks to see right below us. Our whole trip was one that I would definitely hope to do again (including flying Vision Air), and if so would certainly stay in this condo again.
