Best Vacation Yet

Maple Leaf Family Toronto, Canada
Review Submitted: July 31, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We spent 2 weeks at Carron Cottage and had an amazing time. There were 6 in our party 4 aduts and 2 kids. The cottage was everything we could have asked for and more. The rooms are big and spacious with ensuites in each bedroom. The downstairs bedroom and en-suite was perfect for my parents as my mum had knee surgery before we went on vacation and this layout made it possible for her to be completely independant. The kitchen is a dream, with everything you could possibly need. The location was perfect. My father and son spent many a morning and evening fishing at the loch and my husband and I walked the lanes most mornings. We spent our days sightseeing and our evenings in front of a peat fire. The caretakers are wonderful. They couldn't do enough to make our stay pleasant. The grounds are beautiful maintained, I had many a cup of tea at the patio table out back. We travel extensively and have rented many homes in the past. This one outshines them all. We had some of our Irish relatives visit us at the cottage and they were amazed by it. The cottage is warm and inviting. A perfect home away from home. I highly recommend this cottage. From the layout of the cottage to its location you just can't ask for more.

Dream vacation

Carron Cottage has everything you can imagine needing or wanting for your fairy tale vacation in Ireland. I thought we needed internet connections, but it was awesome to be unplugged for 7 days! We so loved coming back to our cottage in the evenings to relax after siteseeing and sleeping in the mornings, cooking breakfast, and watching the horse and cow in the back pasture. Oughterard is a cute town on a major road, so its easy to get anywhere you want to visit. Short drive to the Galway City with all its attractions. Thanks for an amazing time Sandra and Julia!

Irish hospitality at its best

Tracey C. Chester, New York (USA)
Review Submitted: March 1, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
It's obvious from the website how beautiful and well-maintained the house is, so I want to focus on the owners and caretakers. They could not have been more helpful and accommodating, going above and beyond several times to make our trip enjoyable. For example, I was trying to find the small village where my family was from, and this would not have been possible if they had not made some phone calls for me. (I did not even ask them to do this; I simply mentioned it in conversation, and they immediately began researching on my behalf.) If you want to feel taken care of in a foreign country, look no further.

Glorious Retreat

Thrilled! Rhode Island, USA
Review Submitted: September 28, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We just returned to the united states after spending a wonderful week at Carron Cottage. There was 6 in our party (3 couples) and we were delighted with the accomodations. The cottage is charming, nicely furnished with lovely decor from the owner's travels, and is well maintained. It was a pleasure cooking and sharing meals together in the spacious well-equipped kitchen and we loved playing cards by the fire at night Morning walks to nearby Lough Corrib was a great way to start the day and then it was off to explore the beautiful countryside. We especially liked the towns of Roundstone and Westport, the Sky Drive in Clifden, hiking in Connemara National Park, Kylemore Abbey and justing taking in the incredible scenery.
We highly recomment a stay at Carron Cottage.....you will not be disappointed!!!!!

Un cottage exceptionnel!

Famille Prévost Paris, France
Review Submitted: August 9, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We were 6 people staying at Carron Cottage for a week lately, coming from France to spend a family holiday in western Ireland, and everyone loved the house! It is a lovely cottage, well located if you want to tour Connemara. We really felt at home in this spacious, tastefully decorated house. The ensuite bedrooms were really appreciated. The house is equipped with everything that you might need during your stay, it is a real pleasure to cook in the vast kitchen while having a chat around the central worktop. The living-room is nice and comfortable, and the fireplace adds to the charm of the room. As we are not English-speaking people, our words are probably poor to describe the wonderful time we had at Carron Cottage, but we recommend it to everyone willing to enjoy their holiday in this area. Thank you to the owner of the cottage who helped us prepare our stay in her house and to her mother who has been so helpful while staying there.
