This exceptional vacation villa is located in the 'Antico Borgo', or old village--of Calitri, Italy. Calitri is centrally located in Southern Italy providing easy access to the regions of Campania, Basilicata, and Puglia. One will experience the true charm of this Italian hilltop town along with the comfort of modern amenities which have been updated within the past year.
The large kitchen is suitable for preparing a variety of meals or snacks and includes a microwave for convienence. The living room has been designed for comfort and overlooks a courtyard. There are two spacious bedrooms-- one with a queen bed--including a TV and the second with two twin beds; each room provides breathtaking panoramic views of rolling hills and distant villages.
wanted to go further south in the hope of good weather. Not to be but the area is so beautiful and the apartment is and has everything you need, is spacious, clean, and simply furnished with wonderful views down across the rooftops of the old town and across to the the fields and mountains beyond, and we just relaxed, read, walked and ate the wonderful food(many good restaurants, pizzerias etc and a very good bakery/cafe near the post office) The town is charming and the people very helpful and friendly and willing to communicate without words (our italian is non-existent)
tips: if you're driving take great care round Avellino, easy to get lost.
Definitely highly recommend both the apartment and the area
Our visit to Calitri, was one of our favorite vacations. We experienced the "real" Italy sans the trappings of tourism. Our wonderful accommodations at Villa Franchesco was one of the factors that made our visit especially comfortable and memorable. Located in the heart of the "Antico Borgo" or Old Town, Villa Franchesco is a modern and spacious apartment which is clean and well maintained. The master bedroom is cavernous with spectacular views of the valley and sunsets through the seven foot high glass doors that open onto a small balcony. And the kitchen is fully equiped. Exploring the maze of streets, passageways and walkways along with a mid evil castle in the middle of town, plus all the little shops (where locals shop), small restaurants and bakeries . . . made every day a new adventure! We wouldn't hesitate recommending Villa Franchesco to anyone.
