Cottage, 4 Bedrooms, 4.5 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)

Enjoy the Adirondack lifestyle in one of the original Lake Placid Club Cottages. Elms Cottage was built in 1926 and retains its original charm with its pine hardwood floors, screened porches, stone terrace, and stone fireplace. Rustic elegance with top of the line furnishings. Views of the High Peaks and the Olympic bobsled run are visible all year from every room except one.

There are four bedrooms, each with its own en suite bath. The master, with a king bed and screened porch, is on the second floor. The second bedroom upstairs has two twins with original Lake Placid Club iron frames. One of the first floor bedrooms has a queen bed. The other is equipped as a second gathering area with a queen sleeper sofa, TV wtih DVD player, and screened porch. All beds, bedding, and towels were upgraded and replaced in November 2010. (The sleeper sofa is a sling style; i.e., there is not an iron bar across the middle of the bed).

The living room and dining room are comfortably furnished in the Adirondack style. Huge windows provide stunning views of the High Peaks and fabulous sunsets. Wood is provided for roaring fires in the stone fireplace and the chiminea on the terrace. The fully-equipped gourmet kitchen has a new dual fuel range, a full range of small appliances, and plenty of wine glasses. Full laundry room with new, large capacity washer and dryer.

There is so much to do! It's an easy walk from Elms Cottage to the Village of Lake Placid, Mirror Lake, and Lake Placid itself. In the Village and around the lakes you'll find shopping, the Olympic hockey stadium and ice rink, public tennis courts, boat rentals, equestrian stables, restaurants, and pubs.

You can also walk to the Lake Placid Club golf courses. Challenge yourself on the two championship courses or enjoy a quick nine holes on the Club's par 3 course.

In the winter, you can ski from ELMS Cottage to trails that crisscross the golf courses. Downhill skiing at Whiteface Mountain and cross-country skiing at the Olympic Sports Complex at Mt. Van Hoevenberg are a short drive away.

Lake Placid, the home of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics, is 2 hours from Albany, 2 hours from Burlington, VT, 4.5 hours from NYC, and 2.5 hours from Montreal.

It is hard to imagine a more lovely setting for a winter vacation. Enjoy a picture postcard view of the Adirondack High Peaks while sitting in front of a roaring fire in the living room of Elms Cottage…Perfect!
The cottage is tastefully appointed with a serene color palette, beautiful furnishings, top of the line linens, and comfy beds. The artwork throughout the cottage reflects the history and very special beauty of the area.
This is truly a home away from home. We look forward to returning year after year!

Lovely and lovingly furnished home. We relished the mornings on the screen porch outside our bedroom, and easily accomodated larger gatherings at night. This is a unique home with a genuine connection to what living in the Adirondacks is like. There is so much to do in Lake Placid too. I've been vacationing in this area for years and years, and without a doubt, Elms Cottage is now my favorite place for relaxing, for enjoying nature, and for feeling at home in the Adirondacks!

Wow! The combination of perfect weather and Elms Cottage's central location in the Lake Placid Club, added up to the most active, enjoyable vacation our family ever had. Hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking...all in one day with time to spare. A stress-free walk to golf, to the lake, to restaurants...and then a welcome return to a comfortable house that feels like home; adirondack decor, huge stone fireplace, luxurious linens, every kitchen tool in the book. We gathered on the porch nightly for sunset cocktails and recaps of our fabulous days. Ahhh, take me back. We're booking Elms every year!
