CAPABLE OF HIGH STANDARD - ON THE SEAFRONT - NEIGHBORHOOD UNDINE

Apartment building is new, clean and neat. Apartment itself is also new, clean and neat. There is a problem though with ants in the apartment. Very tiny little ants and they were everywhere! This was something I could live with. Here are a few I could not,

Before booking the apartment I made sure to ask, does it have air conditioning and wi-fi. Owner said yes it did. OK good. Arrived to find only the bedroom has air, the living room did not. Only a fan. Not good. The wi-fi did work good and it was fast. Good.

Then, we put the air on in the bedroom and it worked well for the first few hours and then it stopped working. Still blew air but warm air at best. The bed, which is direcly below it had to be moved to the other side of the room because the water dripping from the now non-working air conditioner could have filled a 16oz cup of water in less than an hour. Does not seem like much until it starts dripping on your head, while sleeping! BAD!

OK, next morning, called the owner. Said he would have someone out to look at it. No one showed and he did not even call us. Next day, I called him again. He said no once could make it it until Friday and sorry. That's it. We, of course, were leaving thursday! No refund of any sort was offered, nothing. This is brazil! BAD

Another thing, this rental is not a straight on, ocean front, looking at the ocean view apartment. Here they call it a lateral view, as in from the side. You can see the ocean from inside the condo but it is not ocean front. If you walk out on the balcony, as seen as if looking at a clock, this is your view: From 9 - 12 you are looking at the local favela. (slums) you are right in front of them. From 12-1 you are looking at the building across the way (100 -125 yards away). From 1 -3 you are looking at the ocean, what you see in the photos. From 3-9, that is the building itself. All in all, the view to the water was nice but not as big as we thought. MEDIUM

Finally, do not rent this apartment if you do not plan to rent a car. There is a space in the underground parking garage and 24 hour gated security. This is a plus BUT there is one restaurant and one bar within walking distance. Nothing else. If you plan to see Salvador and stay here, a car is a must! BAD and GOOD

I hope this helps, I was trying to be honest but the lack of response on the A/C kind of killed it for me, as Salvador is a VERY hot and humid place....
