What’s So Special about Borrego Springs:
Discover Borrego Springs, it’s a strange desert landscape just south of Palm Springs. It is the peace and quiet and the dramatic landscapes that make this place a winter get-away from the cold of the North. Because of the surroundings, Borrego is a special kind of paradise. The desert is like a newborn child, it is beautiful, wondrous, strange and new. What you will see are many thousands of years of evolution in botany as well as geography.
In driving distance, Borrego is two hours or less from any place in San Diego County. In reality, Borrego is a world away -- a world away from traffic, from chain stores, from commotion, from crowds, from deadlines, from the predictable, from the mundane!
About Borrego Springs….A land for all seasons. Borrego is a year around destination that offers expansive desert vistas from a Village without stop lights surrounded by the state’s largest state park framed by stark ancient cliffs, miles of emptiness that are, in fact, teeming with wildlife; endlessly dramatic desert skies that, at night, offer a darkness that defies description; a peace and quiet that cannot be understood without firsthand experience.
Borrego offers you as little or as much to do as you're willing to contemplate. Soaking up the magnificent scenery in an admirable full time occupation and can be accomplished on foot, by car, or horseback, in an off-road vehicle tour or from the air. If you are game for more, there is tennis, golf, shopping, music, galleries, hiking, cycling, photography, bird watching, sunning, swimming; star gazing, and even time travel when you include a visit to the sculptures of Ricardo Breceda at Galleta Meadows. Start your visit of the Sky Art Walk right from the our house. The first sculpture you will stop at is marked FT-15 “Aiolornis with Prey” aka the WindgodBird. (Visit www.galletameadows.com for photos and videos). However you choose to experience Borrego we know for certain you will be amazed, astounded and inextricably altered. We also know that while a three night stay is a good beginning, this adventure will last a lifetime -- and you will be back!
Our cancellation policy is moderate and we will do our best to rebook your stay, if it becomes necessary.

Love the desert.
Quiet location with lots of desert views.
Thank you for considering making the "WindGodBird" vacation rental your place to stay. You'll love it!! Our other Borrego vacation rental is adjacent to this rental, and by the positive comments made by vacationers staying there (Heim's Rancho Borrego Retreat), I guarantee you'll love it here. Please send us your inquiry.
My husband and I had a quiet Christmas getaway in this lovely home in Borrego Springs. The views from this home are phenomenal - 360 degrees of mountains. We woke to the amazing colors at sunrise seen from the bedroom. The home is spacious and comfortable.
Thank you, Richard, for sharing your home and for the simple renting process.
We had a great New Year's vacation at Richard's house! Among all the good times--Terrific location, plenty of room and great bedding. Coming and going very easy.
What a wonderful experience. The house is cozy and well maintained and ideally located "in the desert" rather than next to a swimming pool or artificial garden. Couldn't have been better. Everybody hopes to go back next year. Thanks Richard!
We have rented from the owner before and it has been a pleasure. Very nice newer home in a good area with lots of desert hiking/biking adventures right in front of you. The owner also realizes that us older folks like to hang out outside and both of his rental homes are set up with outside areas for eating and BBQ!
Will be back soon!
We love this place. Very well maintained. The rooms were all very nice and clean. The place was just right for our visit.Easy access to the main road. Great views of the surrounding area with some amazing sunsets and sunrises. Nice location as it was easy to get to Anza Borrego State Park and into town. We did have some issues with the wifi, but we managed to work around that problem. Will definitely be back next time were in town.
We had a great time staying at the lovely Casa in Borrego Springs this New Year. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations. The home is well appointed with plenty of room for everyone (and some to spare since there were only 3 of us). We had everything we needed to cook meals and BBQ while we were there.
Located about 5 miles south of the circle (and the center of town), we loved the quiet as well as the easy access to restaurants. And the night sky.......If you have not stayed in Borrego Springs before, you are in for a treat. It is one of those dark sky places where you can still see the milkyway and almost feel like you can touch it (when there is no moon).
We are already planning our next stay at the Casa.
