My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this mountain home. Very quiet, well furnished in everyday. We have been to many places in the mountains over the years and would return to this home for sure. we loved the location and it has a great hiking trail right across the road. The owner was very friendly and helpful in arranging our stay,.

Nightmare of Mountain Stay

Nightmare stay at cabin Saturday June 8- a/c stopped working, when owner was called nothing she could do- had to deal with it all night with all the windows/doors open.Very uncomfortable with 7 kids. When laid down on bed dust came up, hadn't been stayed in awhile and not cleaned very well. After stay, contacted owner to get deposit back after being ignored for one week by email. contacted owner by phone and was sent back deposit and note staying she didn't understand how we where uncomfortable when all the sheets where taking off the bed, we had to sleep on top of bed not under sheet. Owner explained in letter she doesn't wash comforters every stay just undersheet that customer sleeps on. Beyond nasty!
Owner's Response: It saddens me that anyone who stayed at my cottage did not enjoy it.

Even before the addition of an AC unit in the cottage, my family has always enjoyed feeling the cool mountain air, and listening to crickets chirping through the screened open windows as they went to sleep. If we got hot, we used one of the multiple fans to cool down. However, I hate for my tenants to feel uncomfortable, so as soon as I was notified about the AC acting up, I called the service company. Unfortunately, a part had to be shipped in from Texas, so there was nothing that could be done that day.

As is standard in the hotel industry, quilts and heavy comforters are not washed after every tenant. It is deemed unnecessary because they are not meant to be slept on. Bed toppers are frequently dusted and changed out, so I am very surprised about the mention of dust on beds, especially since the house was occupied just two weeks earlier. Of course, I will keep an eye on this issue more closely from now on.

I always inspect the house after a tenant has stayed to make sure there is no significant damage before returning the security deposit. Once I was satisfied that the only thing the tenant had broken was the breaker box, I was happy to return their deposit.

Nice home, but dated.
Beautiful scenery. Roads are horrible, narrow and winding.
The neighbors were very helpful with directions etc

Owner's Response: The house is built of mostly cedar with large natural-stone fireplace.

The roads are all paved, well-maintained mountain roads and there are directions for all trails, walks etc. in the house.

Great Mountain House

If you want a vaccation nesteled in the moutains, where you can see deer and such, this place is it. Our family very much enjoyed our vaccation. The owner is great to work with. The house is an large, oldered, well maintained home and offers a large wrap around deck (that puts you in the tree tops).
However the roads getting to the house are awful. It may only be 10 miles from Boone. but takes about 30 min. to get there, Make sure your brakes are good. No motor cycles are allowed. We were not told this intill we trailed 3 of them 1000 miles. Great overall experience.

What a beautiful place!! We had such a great time and I will certainly tell others about it. The deer and wild turkeys were a sight. The beds were so very comfortable, my husband said he had never had such a good nights sleep. Thanks Pat for sharing your lovely mountain home with us. Hope to be there again real soon.
