Great place with great views.

Beautiful house in a great location. This is not a typical "vacation rental" with basic appliances and hand-me-down furniture. Top-line appliances (2 ovens, 6 burners, and a grill top). Nicely decorated. Very clean. Roomy. There were only 2 of us so we really rattled around in the place. Could easily handle a good-sized family with a lot of rooms to spread out.
Over 180-degree views of the ocean, including crashing surf, surfers, otters, whales, and incredible sunsets. Take your wine and cheese down to the patio with Adirondack chairs for the nightly spectacle. Even in stormy weather, the views were great.
Close to restaurants and shops in town (1-2 miles), but away from the the traffic and noise. Boardwalk and beach right across the street. Lots of TVs (satellite) and internet access, but often we didn't even turn on the electronics - just enjoyed the view. Multiple fireplaces that really pump out the heat. Efficient customer service.
This house has most of the dishes and cookware you need, and the basic kitchen supplies. One grocery in Cambria has the essentials, but also consider stocking up in Templeton (about 25 miles inland). They have a very good Trader Joes (and other stores), and a fantastic seafood shop (Pier 46 in the Trader Joes shopping center), with live lobsters and crabs and lots of other great fish and shellfish. Perfect for wine lovers - the Paso Robles-area wineries are nearby (25 miles +/-), and the house even has a wine cooler. Also just a few minutes from Hearst Castle. We considered driving up the coast to Big Sur one day, but the road was closed due to a rock slide. No problem -- can't imagine views any better than from the wall-wall-windows in t his house.
