Enjoy a piece of traditional Italy at Villa Mila.

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful villa. We had our concerns about whether this deal was too good to be true, but after staying a week at villa Mila, our party of 16 Americans and Italians were absolutely pleased. The villa is rustic enough to be different then a tourist hotel but is still comfortable, spacious, and clean. In short, this villa remains a piece of historic Italy that should not be missed. The villa itself offered LARGE rooms with painted ceilings( Frescos) and ample bathrooms for the lot. The group that travelled with us was...picky...but thoroughly enjoyed the villa since it offered great accommodations and the chance to connect with family. The grounds were breathtaking...the 2 friendly cats, Pino the dog, the pool, the ancient buildings on! . In addition, after reading the previous reviews about Mirella the caretaker, she had a lot to live up to. She surely did and was always available to offer the whole group advice as to where to eat, wineries, and everything else about the area. One more thing, we vacationed with other Italians from Northern Italy and they were also very much impressed with the villa and the hospitality of Mirella and the owners. This place made our vacation! Don't now to try to reserve a week or two because me and all of my friends will be calling soon to reserve another spot. What an amazing experience that will not be forgotten! Thank you to Mirella, Count San Bonifacio, the hospitable town of Villa Bartolomea and to the Internet for making this possible. Fairy Tale Wedding in Italy

  • 5 of 5

Villa Mila (the house, Mirella, the owner and village) contributed to our fairy tale wedding in Italy!! From day one, Mirella assisted with every query we had and she became our wedding coordinator in Villa Bartolomea, we couldn't have asked for a more capable and willing person!!

Our wedding week was the highlight of our lives and our guests - the historic house, the beautiful gardens, the friendliness of the staff, Mirella's support, the visit by the owner, the village's assistance all added to this amazing experience!! We are definitely planning a reunion!

I would highly recommend Villa Mila for any gathering - a wedding, family or friends reunion or holiday!! We had days at the villa and away.

It is so central - close to the basic shops (bakery, deli, restaurants, chefs), walking distance to the regional / national railway and only 50 min from Verona by train, which connects with so many other places like Venice and Lake Garda.

The villa accommodated all our guests of different ages and it so spacious with many living rooms, social rooms, spacious and well equipped kitchen, many on-suite bathrooms to the bedrooms. The villa reminded us all of the Sound of Music!

We had our wedding service in the local cathedral and the reception in the villa's garden, more beautiful you will not find! July was the perfect time as it is mid summer and after a day of sightseeing, everyone ended in the big pool.

With Mirella's support, we arranged many activities: lawn games, a pasta-cooking evening, local shopping, wedding catering, flowers, church rehearsals and visits and decor.

Villa Mila is a magical and very special place - it is really as beautiful as you've seen on the photos!! We brought a professional photographer along from South Africa and it was a photographer's dream house and yard!!

If you would like to have a fantastic and memorable time with a group of people, in the heart of Italy, in a scenic area, central with great service, Villa Mila is the place!!

Owner's Response: Dear Loraine, the best you could have ever said about our home and about your sojourn in Villa Mila, you have written in your review above. What can I say ? “Thank you” is too little ! But however: Thank you for such a great appreciation for the structure and the spaciousness of the house, for its central location and placement in our beautiful region, for its park and the immediate surroundings and the peacefulness of the site and, particularly, for such rewarding words on Mirella and all the staff of Villa Mila who really were enthusiastic in doing all the best they could in assisting such a marvelous couple of spouses, like yourself and Gabriel, in the most remarkable day of your life. But Mirella and myself really want to thank you for your great kindness and pleasantness, your perfect understanding of all the needs and peculiarities of our villa and the respect and appreciation of all members of your group for the efforts that Mirella and our staff made for making your sojourn a very special holiday and event. Ciao Loraine and Gabriel ! Come back soon, even for a quick hello and, maybe, for introducing to us a small beautiful baby ! Alessandro

Good Times!

11 Women,Italian Villa,Gorgeous Countryside and Wine!! What a trip we had. The Villa was a wonderful home base for our week long stay. The location was great for day trips to Venice,Florence and several other small towns in the area. Bicycles included at the Villa made for a great day trip to nearby Villages and the ride and/or walk along the river was absolutely beautiful! The small town of Villa Bartolomea was quaint and very friendly. Several restaurants and bars to choose from. Nice little markets for necessities and if your timing is as good as ours was there is a great farmers market once a week and a flower market on another day.We thoroughly enjoyed our time both at the Villa and in the area. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get a feel for living local in a non touristy environment.

Wonderful Stay in Italian Countryside

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 11 women on our annual "girls trip" and had a wonderful week in this beautiful villa in the village of Villa Bartolomea. I had looked at the villa before, but our group had opted for another destination for our last trip, but 2 years later, Mirella the manager, remembered me from my previous inquiry, and was very helpful with all our arrangements and requests. The villa itself is beautiful, and the surrounding little villages are fun to explore, either by car or by the bikes at the villa. Right outside the villa gates are miles and miles of biking or walking paths, which we used to explore little towns nearby. The village of Villa Bartolomea is small but very quaint with few lovely restaurants within walking distance to villa. I highly recommend this villa, it's away from the hustle of all the big cities. We easily visited Venice (1.5hr drive) & Florence (2 hr drive) on day trips or we would drive to faster train station like Rovigo, park, then take train to Venice, all very easy to navigate, but if we had any questions about anything, Mirella was there to answer and help arrange!! Again, highly recommend this beautiful Villa in the Italian countryside!!

A real taste of charming, unspoilt Italy

  • 5 of 5

We chose Villa Mila as the base for a 2 week family get together as there were 17 of us from the UK and US and it looked as if the Villa ticked all the right boxes. It certainly was perfect in many ways - very spacious and full of character and Mirella, the manager, couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful.

The location is in the charming town of Villa Bartolomea, with cafes, pizzerias and shops within a couple of minutes walk and a great local market on Thursdays. It is not a tourist destination - in fact we didn't bump into any other tourists there at all - but all the locals were friendly and welcoming and generally spoke some English. There is also a train station, although that is a good 15 minute walk away and the trains are slow and sporadic. There were good supermarkets within 5- 15 minutes drive away and Mirella suggested some great restaurants too.

The Villa is also situated right next to a river with long cycle paths, so most of us made use of the bikes provided.

There were lots of wonderful places to visit, although you definitely need a car to get to them as most were an hours drive. Highlights for us included several trips to Lake Garda and Venice, Verona, Montagnana, Florence (over 2 hours drive) and a lovely, brand new, small waterpark, Castel Beach (15 minutes away and great for all the family on a hot day).

So we would highly recommend a visit to the Villa and the surrounding area. However, if mod cons are your priority, be aware that Villa Mila is historic Italy, not a 5 star hotel. The villa wasn't air conditioned, but has electric fans - which was fine until the temperatures got into the high 90s, then it was uncomfortable for some at night. The fixtures and fittings are generally old and sometimes temperamental, but Mirella was quick to help resolve any problems we had with anything. And take mosquito repellent - there were plenty about in July as it's so close to the river - but the Villa has screens and provides coils and electric repellents to burn outside and at night.

Overall it was a delightful holiday - in a characterful, quirky Villa with a real taste of unspoilt, historic Italy.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your expanded and flattering review on Villa Mila and mostly for your appreciation of the character of the house and of the assistance received from our part in order to make your stay as pleasant as possible. On our hand, we were so happy to host such a nice and friendly group of guests ! Hope to host any of you in the future.

A magical place

  • 5 of 5

As a group of 17, four couples plus nine teenage and adult children, we rented the villa in late December, which this time around turned out to be a very cold period.

The place is huge – even larger than the pictures on the website might suggest – and has a very special historical atmosphere. The rooms are charming, all very different, and most of the beds are quite comfortable. The kitchen offers an ample supply of plates, glasses and silverware, all the equipment needed to host big groups. The villa also has a very nice billard room and bikes, though given the weather conditions we used the former much more than the latter. It boasts a music salon too, with a large piano and a CD player. The kitchen and the living room have wide and well-functioning fireplaces, which we used intensively (there is an unlimited supply of dry firewood freely available to the guests). Last but not least, the wifi connection worked fine.

Mirella, the manager, took excellent care of us throughout our week-long stay, including to take one of us to the doctor. She knows the region very well and provides good advice, both beforehand via email and phone and subsequently on the spot.

The village itself is rather small but there are enough shops to find food and an outstanding pizzeria. There was also a nice street market. We tried dinner at a nearby agroturismo place Mirella recommended, which was a real success.

Padova, Verona, Ferrara, Mantova, Montagnana and more wonderful cities are all well within day-trip distance.

The only unpleasant surprise was the stiff heating bill, which was due on top of the rent. However, this is not an issue when the weather is milder.

On the whole, we are most grateful to Mirella and warmly recommend the villa.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest, it was a pleasure for us to host you and your group in Villa Mila and we very much appreciated your kindness as well as your comments to your stay. We are sorry for your disappointment for the heating expenses: we know that this is an issue for the guests coming in winter time and this is the reason why we keep the rental price at the medium level although Christmas period may be considered high season. In any event, we are also arranging for a heating increase in the second floor for a better comfort of our guests. Again best wishes for the New Year. Villa Mila Staff
