Straddled between Berkeley's Claremont neighborhood, and Oakland's Rockridge, the historic Elmwood district is a bustling vibrant area, with much to do and see. Elmwood House is a 1908 prominent and imposing landmark that sits in a quiet and friendly residential Cul-de-sac, yet is ideally located just two blocks from the hub of College and Telegraph Avenues. Within in the immediate area are the Claremont Resort & Spa, Berkeley Tennis Club & Pools, CAL Recreation Center, many parks, great trails, golf, fine dining, ethnic restaurants, bookstores, theater, CAL Performances, and UC Berkeley's university campus. With a WalkScore of 97, and only ten blocks to BART, day-trips to San Francisco and beyond are easy. Elmwood House is one of Berkeley's grand old dames, an original period residence with wonderful architectural detail and lots of character. For a list of local resources, and places to see and go, please email me. Napa and the Wine Country are about a one hour drive; Carmel-by-the-sea, Monterey, and Bg Sur, ('the greatest meeting of land and water') about a 90 minute drive south. North you will find Marin beaches, Mount Tamalpais and Muir Woods - 20 minutes across the Golden Gate Bridge, and beyond that Stinson Beach 40 mins, and Inverness, one hour, and beyond there, Bolinas, Jenner and Bodega Bay. Yosemite is approximately 3 hours and it is best to reserve early.
